(A/N): I was looking at endangered species yesterday, and this hit me.

Disclaimer: Its what youse thinks.

It was a white wolf, vicious to its prey, beautiful white in its intensity.

Tenten loved to read and research. Often, Lee would tease her about the boring subject of her texts, he never quite saw how she could find any interest in such dry reading. She read Tanaka's White Wolf on a mission with Neji, once. She read it laying low waiting for backup in the form of Gai and Lee. Snow had fallen soft and quiet for the past three days while she and Neji hid out in a cave.

He paced the front of the cave during those three days. Unhappy that the mission was a fluke and that they had to depend on Gai and Lee to bail them out.

Against the snow his white shirt, fair skin, and pale eyes made him blend seamlessly into his surroundings. He was like some lost snow angel walking on the earth. Were it not for his dark hair she felt he might have faded into the background of his surroundings and out of her sight. Unlike the snow, though, he was not as cold as he looked; it was the effect of growing up surrounded in an emotional cold.

Arctic wolves inhabit some of the most inhospitable terrain in the world. They are able to tolerate years of sub-zero temperatures, up to five months of darkness a year, and weeks without food. It is one of the few mammals that can tolerate its conditions. Details of the animal's life through much of the year are virtually unknown.

The Hyuuga had been giving him a hard time again about marriage. He had duties to fulfill as an aristocrat of the branch family. It was probably why he was so anxious to not be holed up anymore. He must have been afraid of being shackled to the family forever, never to go on missions again.

Due to the scarcity of grazing plants, they like to roam large areas to find prey up to and beyond 1000 square miles, and they will follow migrating caribou south during the winter. Throughout the Fall and Winter, arctic wolves remain on the move.

Tenten reflected on how disappointed he was that there were more opponents than accounted for. However, ANBU protocol specified that they must wait for backup. Since Neji was always one to the follow rules, they waited for Lee and Gai.

The arctic wolves must hunt together in packs when seeking large prey. The caribou or musk oxen are too powerful for any one wolf to take on alone.

"There are Lee and Gai. Are you ready to go?" Tenten looked up at him staring with the Byakugan outside the cave. She closed her book and nodded her assent.

When they reached the enemy hideout everyone squared off with the group. The snow was falling in fat flakes around them. He smirked at the fight, pale arms raised, bulbous white eyes surrounded by almost translucent skin, his aim was clear, focused, and intent.

Tenten knew the smirk he threw was a wolfish smile.
