Chapter 1: Bitter Beings
Gaz has, once again, woken up late for skool, which is precisely the reason why she is practically jogging in order to arrive there on time. She is already angry about the fact that Dib had been working on yet another one of his plots to "defeat Zim and save all of humanity in the process" for the duration of the night, and Gaz, being the unfortunate soul who was forced to reside in the bedroom directly across from Dib's own, had hardly gotten any sleep. Which was pretty understandable. Dib was never one to work quietly, after all.
"My stupid brother has, yet again, proven himself to be a social outcast. It's not bad enough that the entire city believes him to be completely delusional as it is? Now he's trying to skip skool in order to formulate a plot to defeat Zim. What a complete tool."
Gaz hears footsteps ehind her, and she suddenly whips her head around, short purple locks whipping across her heavily made-up face in the process. It is Zim who appears by her side, wearing a confident smirk on his face.
Annoyance crosses over Gaz's own face, and her tone turs somewhat cold when she speaks. "Zim... what do you want? I haven't got time for this. If I'm late to skool again, Adams will probably murder me, not that I'd mind that much at the moment."
Zim simply stares at Gaz with an indescribable expression on his face before admitting a sinister (or as "sinister" as Zim can appear, anyway) laugh. "Puny Earth being," he amonishes, "I have a parcel for your meat puppet brother, the one your kind refers to as Dib. Give him this note… and maybe, by the time of the Irken invasion, led by myself, of course… you shall be spared."
Gaz is skeptical of Zim's fantasy ever coming true, but she decides to keep her opinion to herself. "And what if I refuse?" Zim raises his voice to a level that nearly causes Gaz's ears to bleed; the sound being omitted from his mouth is a cross between a girly shriek and a hyenna's mating call.
"If you refuse," Zim chants, "then you shall die!"
Gaz snatches the envelope from Zim's elongated fingers, while at the same time making sure not to crumple the red envelope. "Fine, I'll give it to him… Just stop with your whining; it's starting to give me a headache."
In the distance, Gaz hears the skool bell, signaling the beginning of homeroom. She curses. "Shit; now the skool is going to call Dad. Not that they'll be able to contact him anyway." Without turning to Zim, Gaz rushes off to skool, where a very angry Mrs. Adams will be waiting.
