Kenny had stargazed for years but the reason he choose to take Kara here was because it was where he first seen her fly.
When it had happened he was barely awake but a loud sound only a dozen or so feet above his head had jolted him awake. He had rushed to his computer, hoping that maybe it was a meteorite or plane. He certainly wasn't expecting to see a teenage girl flying in the air like Superman.
The telescope didn't get a clear shot of the girl's face but it didn't take him long to figure out it was Kara. She was adopted, insanely strong and fast, and she didn't seem to know anything about history. She also had the same body and clothes of the flying girl.
He had no clue what he was supposed to do. Was he supposed to call the police or something? In the end he had decided to talk to her before doing something drastic. She may have been a little weird but she was still a person.
Instead he decided to try to become her friend. At first he had done it because he thought it would be cool to have a friends with superpowers. But over time it had grown into something more. She was a kind, cheerful and all around pleasant person to be around. She was also very smart in areas other than history and they shared a lot of common interests. The thought of her being able to fly fell into the back of his mind and he just enjoyed her company, almost forgetting about how she could fly.
Then he started to develop feelings for her. At first he thought it was just because she was willing to be his friend and he was overreacting to a simple crush. But the feelings only grew stronger and he knew they weren't going away.
Kenny had never been in this situation before. Usually his crushes either completely ignored him or their boyfriends beat him up. But Kara was different, she seemed to enjoy being around him as much as he enjoyed being around her.
Eventually he decided to ask her to come to the woods to stargaze with him. And then everything fell apart from there.
"I'm an idiot." Kenny said to himself as he was gathering his stuff up and preparing to go home. It had been nearly an hour since Kara had left but he still felt the blush in his cheek that hadn't gone away since he nearly kissed her. 'Nearly being the key word' he thought to himself.
"Why did I think she would be interested be in me?!" He said angrily, kicking the ground and whatever else he could find. He had been friends with Kara's for nearly a year and now that may be over because he tried to kiss her.
He was still in the process of dismantling the the telescope when he heard a truck pulling up. He stopped what he was doing. Trucks never drove this far off the path.
Then he spotted the truck. It belonged to Sheriff Collins. Kenny started to panic. Thinking quickly he tossed his computer into some bushes to conceal it and tried to sneak away.
He didn't manage to get very far before Collins found him.
Collins didn't even pretend to be innocent, he just pointed his gun at Kenny and said, "You just had to go poking your nose into other people's business didn't you?"
"You won't get away with this! They'll put you away forever!" Kenny said, trying to sound brave in the face of death.
Collins seemed to show a little remorse and regret on his face but that all ended when he pulled the trigger.
Kenny wasn't sure how long he remained alive but slowly the pain he felt began to vanish as he drifted closer to death.
With his final moments he gazed into the stars that had always fascinated him and with his dying words said, "Thank you universe for bringing Kara Danvers into my life."
He died doing what he always loved to do. Staring into the stars.
