Disclaimer: I NO OWN!
AN: In this fic, Mikan & Hotaru are 16, Natsume & Ruka are 17. This is my first Gakuen Alice fic! (On Angel's Wings doesn't count, seeing as it's a crossover)
Like Mother, Like Daughter
"Please Mikan, let me come with you," Hotaru begged, trying to hold back tears. That's right, tears. The emotionless Hotaru Imai was about to cry. What could have caused it?
Two words: Mikan leaving.
"I'm sorry, Hotaru, but I can't. I swear I'll visit you if I can, but I really have to leave," Mikan whispered, tears already flowing down her cheeks.
"I'm gonna kill that Hyuuga as soon as I see him!" Hotaru burst out, filled with rage at the reason her best friend is leaving the school, leaving her.
"Please don't Hotaru. I'd like to see him alive when I visit you guys again," Mikan laughed slightly at her friend's overreaction.
The two girls, polar opposites, yet still best friends, hugged each other tightly. When they finally let go, Mikan grabbed the small bag that held all her personal belongings and lifted herself out the window. Once she reached the ground, she turned back once more to look at the school that had been her home for six years.
"Goodbye, Alice Academy," she whispered into the night, waving up at Hotaru who was looking down at her.
With that, she turned on her heel and ran down the path her mother had run down not to long before as she left the Academy for good.
It was then that she realized that she hadn't really been scared of the dark, of monsters, or of anything that had frightened her during her life. Her real fear, her true fear had been becoming what her mother had been. And here she was, doing the exact same thing her mother had done, under the exact same circumstances.
But she had to keep running. For herself, for her friends, for her child . . .
She smiled sardonically as the wind whipped her hair, no longer restrained in pigtails, around her face. She had become her worst fear. She had become Yuka Azumi.
AN: I know, I know, it sucked. I just had this idea, and it ran around and around in my head. There are spoilers for chapter 40, I think it is . . . don't read this story if you haven't read past that, 'cause it'll make no sense. I hoped you liked it! Tell me if you have absolutely no clue what I was talking about, and I'll be happy to clear it up. Ciao!
Luv,
Becca
