Mabinogi
Prologue
Richard sighed on his way home from school as a look of sadness and loneliness stood etched into his face. Bullying was a norm for him in school, in which today had been no exception. The bruise on his neck, a reminder of the noose classmates had looped on him during Drama class whilst the teacher was away. He was truly miserable, and found it only more painful when others played down the torture he received on an almost daily basis.
His footsteps were dull, and bore a feeling of dread, as if devoid of all joy and happiness. If you thought he had a heart, he knew not where it was. For he felt alone, both at school, and at home. He was what many would see as a loser or wimp, for he hadn't interest in even fighting back against the bullies. Indeed, his only interest was in finding an easy way out of his life, in which he could escape the seemingly never-ending pain of life.
Reaching the front door, he showed no emotion as he quietly opened it, slipping inside and making his way upstairs. His mother, as if through some maternal instinct, sensed his arrival and called out from the kitchen. "Richard, dinner will be ready at around 5. Be sure to come down to eat." A slight of the hand gave his non-verbal (and unseen) response to her call. Entering his bedroom, he closed the door behind him and flopped down on the bed.
"Why me?!" he asked in a noticeably pained voice, burying his face in the pillow. Richard had managed to keep the pain locked up almost all day, but now that he was safely in his bedroom, he felt the tears begin to flow, as if a dam had given way to a tidal wave.
However, as this was happening, he failed to notice how his body seemed to have started to have a faint bluish glow to his skin. At first, it was barely noticeable to the naked eye of anyone who might have even been in his room with him, but gradually it began to glow brighter and brighter. By the time he'd noticed it, he was like a blue light bulb, and continuing to get brighter still.
"W-What in the world?!" Confused and admittedly scared, Richard found himself starting to panic, but it wasn't enough. As he screamed and tried to get off the bed to rush for his door, his legs and arms felt like lead. Finally, with a scream, the brightness overcame him, and he found himself no longer in his room.
It is worth mentioning that Richard had a love for Fantasy Adventure books such as Tolkien's famous The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. And by no mere coincidence, he was unaware that a journey was before him which he could have never envisioned.
A/N: Okay, so this is just the Prologue admittedly. Chapter One will be uploaded shortly, which follows our Character Richard around as he learns what has happened to him, who he is, and what he can choose to become.
No flames, but constructive criticism is most certainly welcome.
