A.N.- I was listening to the radio when I heard this song, and thought that it was the perfect song, in my opinion, to describe the sadness that Mamoru felt before he broke up with Usagi in the R season. Break out the tissues and please be kind and review! (The song is "Love Ridden" by Fiona Apple)

Mamoru watched silently as his Usako laughed and chatted with her friends. They had only been going together for a week. Alan and Ann had left town, and he had regained all his memories. He had finally found his princess... but now, he was going to lose her. "Come on Mamo-chan, let's go to your place and watch the videos we rented!" Usagi called, grabbing her coat. "Be right there!" Mamoru called back.

Mamoru sat in a chair in his room and just watched Usagi, who had fallen asleep while they were watching movies in his room. Mamoru's thoughts wandered to the night before, to the nightmare he kept having. That horrible dream.... *Mamoru, you must stay away from Usagi! If you don't she will die...*
That voice... At first he hadn't believed it, but then he kept having that dream night after night, and he knew it was true. I would die if anything happened to her, so I'll sacrifice my own happiness for hers.

"Mamo-chan...Ashiteru..." Usagi mumbled in her sleep. Mamoru winced in pain. 'How will I ever be able to tell her that I don't care for her, need her, LOVE her...how will I be able to go on without you, my Usako.' I have to do this, Mamoru's mind stated firmly. ' As long as I keep Usagi safe, my feelings don't matter.' Mamoru tried to convince himself, but the words were hollow to his heart. 'She'll be safe...' was the last thought before Mamoru fell into a sorrowful sleep.

Mamoru could only keep repeating 'It will keep her safe, it will keep her safe...' in his mind. If he didn't focus, he would burst into tears. 'No, crying will wait till later...' he said, his heart hardening as he drew nearer to the place where he was supposed to meet Usagi, to tell her...it was over. Her blonde Odango's came into view and one lone tear streaked down his cheek. 'Usako, I love you with all my heart, maybe one day you will understand why I have to do this, so please, live and be happy.'
