Unsaid

Every day, Mrs. Lovett hears Lucy crying about her husband getting taken away. Most days she is sympathetic—after all, the woman was just left alone with her year-old daughter and no idea what to do. But there are times when she wants to scream at the blonde—yell horrible, awful things to let her know how annoyed she is.

"I miss him too!" Mrs. Lovett'd tell Lucy accusingly. "But I'm still going along with my life! You need to stop crying and do the same! Just move on already!"

She knows better than to do that, but more and more frequent grow the days where the words want to jump from her lips.

One day, Mrs. Lovett lets her true feelings be known, then instantly regrets it as she watches Lucy's horrified, crushed expression.

She shouldn't have said that.

She really, really shouldn't have said the things she did.

She would never have even considered it if she'd known that was the last time she'd ever see Lucy as, well, Lucy.

The same night Mrs. Lovett says those things is when Lucy goes to Judge Turpin's party.

The next time they see each other, Lucy is the crazy beggar woman yelling "Beware her!" and pointing at the pie shop.
