Author's Note: I wrote this after a long writer's block I was struggling to get away from. I hadn't written a poem in months, and I was like a desert wanderer, lost, without any good ideas to get myself out of the hole I was in. But today (April 18th, 2001) I sat down at the computer, and began to write. . . And the words practically flowed from my fingers. Well, maybe not flowed, but it was certainly much easier to write a poem than I had imagined it would after the clouds cleared up, and I was able to write again.
I hope you all enjoy my poem! I love reviews, so after you're done reading my poem, I would be grateful if you left a comment for me to read. Thank you! --Alexandra Madison

Somehow, I know this war will end

Soon, before it's time.

Countless moments, I've wished it would,

Never thinking my wish would change it's destiny,

But now I know that it will end,

I have a brand new kind of sadness,

The fear of losing all my friends,

And the war,

That has kept me safe,

And kept me hidden,

From the life I left behind,

But no matter what I wish for now,

Somehow, I know this war will end. . .

Soon, before it's time.
