Stop Me
You watch me pace back and forth
Going on with my loud rampage
Completely unaware
You're being destroyed little by little, day by day
Such a beautiful creature
Kind and pure
Makes me wonder how you got stuck with me
And makes me sure
I'll be the death of you,
You little piece of art,
I'll steal away your soul
Your life, and most importantly, your heart
I'll erase your colors
And replace them with black
Take away your name, Mail
Change it to Matt
I'll steal the first look at your eyes
Be your first love
I know you have no problem with it
But, oh dear god
I'm destroying you
Can't you tell?
I'm making what's supposed to be your life
A daily dose of hell
And so I rise from my seat
Slowly turning to face you
I hand over the loaded gun
And order, "Shoot."
You smile and give me a funny look
A laugh, and, "Good one, Mello."
But I'm completely serious right now
It's time to end the show
"Shoot me, Matt."
You look at me and ask, "Hey, what's wrong?"
"J-just do it already," I say
My voice is strong
"I'm destroying you, Matt.
"Don't you see?
"You deserve better than this.
"You deserve much better than me."
And I eye your finger
About to pull the trigger
And time suddenly slows
And I wait for the blow
To come
And end my life
The one bullet
That'd make it all alright...
But instead I hear a clatter
As the gun drops to the floor
And you rush across the room to embrace me
Oh, why didn't you do it? I silently implore
And your arms are wounded around me
Tight and assuring
"You're not destroying me, Mello."
Your voice is caring
"I do deserve better than this.
"But I think right now
"I'm content with what I have
"And I'll tell you how.
"Mello, you're my other half
"How would I live without you?
"You're...my everything
"My number one, not number two."
You seal your words with a kiss
Firm, but loving against my lips
And I guess
It can't get any better than this
You break away and whisper
"I love you."
And...
I think...
I love you, too.
