Title: Waiting in the Dark Author: MissJedi Genre: Drama (maybe?) Rating: K Summary: After Jess left to California, Rory goes to the one place that only she and him know.
A/N: It's a little odd, and it didn't turn out the way I wanted it too, but, eh, whatever. I hope everyone is okay with it anyway.

It was dark, and it was late, but she didn't care. She and Jess had come here often, to just sit and read. Sometimes they talked, but not really. It wasn't that sort of uncomfortable silence, that makes you say stupid things to get the conversation going; it was the kind where you can just sit there, not talking, but you are able to enjoy the others company. She had liked that, and she missed that.
It was here, on this bridge, that Rory had always liked to think their first date took place, even though she had still been with Dean at the time. Rory had once told Jess of her idea, and he had just laughed. He had then proceeded to tell her that if that was so, then that was the most expensive date he had ever gone on. She laughed too, trying to cover up the blush she wasn't quite sure why she had.
The bridge held a special place for them. It was a place that only they knew. Somehow it seemed that whenever he was here, on this bridge, she knew and would come. The same thing went for him too. She missed that. She missed that a lot.
He had been gone for 3 days now. He wasn't graduating, and she wasn't going to Prom. Rory wasn't sure why he left – to her, it didn't make any sense. At first she was puzzled by his leaving – confused. She tried to ignore it, like she always did, but couldn't. Every time she walked past the Diner and he wasn't there, her heart would tear a little more. She was keeping quiet about her misery, because no one would understand.
So for the past two nights Rory had come here, waiting. She would sit on the same spot, looking at her reflection in the dark water. She had a false hope that he would come here, just like he always did, and sit with her. Rory would wait for hours, thinking. Tonight was no different. Now that it is getting too late, and she knows it was time to go home, se comes to the same realization she has come to before.
He isn't coming. He's gone and he's not coming back.
And so she finally breaks down and cries. She cries because she really did love him. She loved him and he left her, to go off into the world alone. She knows he isn't coming back, but she still comes here every night with the hope that he will.

A/N: Weird ending, I know. Please review and tell me what you think.
