SETTING
A bench on the grounds of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Tom sits on a bench immersed in writing a diary entry. OLIVE (possibly accompanied by a friend of two) enters and crosses to the bench, eyeing TOM. OLIVE clears her throat. TOM ignores her.
OLIVE
Excuse me.
TOM
(finishes what he is writing, closes the book, and looks up) Yes?
OLIVE
What are you doing?
TOM
Um… Writing.
OLIVE
In a diary?
TOM
Sure. A diary. Or a journal. What's it to you?
OLIVE
Diaries are for girls, you know.
TOM
There's no law against keeping a journal. Why don't you go away? It's not going to work on me.
OLIVE
What?
TOM
Your pathetic attempt to insult me. I see right through you and I will not be swayed by your childish games. Why don't you go tease that Ravenclaw girl?
Olive is visibly shaken.
OLIVE
Myrtle? Didn't you hear; she's dead. Murdered.
TOM
What a shame. (lips quirk into an evil grin) I didn't realize that was the girl you teased.
Olive turns to walk away.
TOM
But I'm sure other people did.
OLIVE
(turning) Excuse me?
TOM
Everyone knows you teased her, so it's not a leap to think that maybe…
OLIVE
I didn't do anything to her!
TOM
Good luck convincing everyone else.
OLIVE runs off, friends in tow. TOM settles back, opens the diary, and goes back to writing.
