Ok. Here's the story of that jogger from SOF. I dunno. I just always wondered about him.
Richard Wright jogged along the beach. It was almost dawn. The seagulls were coming out. His favorite part of the day.
He'd come here with his family for a holiday. Of course he'd woken up earliest.
They were all here. His parents, Caroline and Mike Wright. He was the youngest of 3 children and had turned 20 a month ago.
They had thrown him a party. His brother, Mike (named after his dad) and his wife Cameron, then his sister Amy and her husband Joseph. They were all at the beach house. The "Wright Place" they called it. A pun. Or something. He wouldn't know. He'd never been good with things like that.
One of his nieces was. Elizabeth. She was the oldest of Mike and Cameron. Then her younger brother Hugh and the littlest Mike Zachary Wright III. Mouthful that kid was. But he liked Zach.
Then there was his favorite. Yeah yeah. Favorites were bad. But the girl reminded him of him as a kid. Her name was Hannah. She was Amy and Joseph's only kid. Same age as Hugh. Usually she came with him on his runs. But on Saturdays she always slept untill at least 10. It was her thing. Like Elizabeth's knack at words or his mom's special maple cookies.
While he jogged he thought about them. His family. Maybe that was why he didn't notice the bulky hawks above him. That they were getting attacked by other- even bulkier hawks.
He did notice one of the bulkier hawks fell into the ocean. Or he half noticed. He thought it was a pelican.
He didn't notice when the bulky hawks left.
He couldn't hear the other bulky hawks start to talk. He didn't see one of them fall. Red liquid falling from his side.
He was too far away to see them land or hear them start to panic.
But then he turned the bend.
There were 5 kids there. It was rare to see kids out that early. It was only 6. The kids usually weren't out till 9. A little girl. With blonde curly hair, similar to his own. And blue eyes. A boy. Maybe a year or 2 older than the girl who looked like her twin. The boy was ripping a shirt into strips and handing it to an older girl. She had straight blonde-streaked hair. Like Elizabeth and Hannah's. A very tan girl with curly dark hair was next to the older girl. She was raising someone's legs. He couldn't see who. The body was blocked by a very tall, pale, blonde boy.
As he got closer he saw the say something to the oldest girl. He couldn't hear what. Then he got close enough to see the boy they were all sitting around. He had olive toned skin and dark hair.
He slowed to a walk as he got on hearing range.
"Kids, you okay?" He called. "What are you doing out here this early." Then he looked at the dark wet stuff on the ground. He froze and whipped out his cell phone.
His nieces had insisted she got it. So they could call him. He was glad they had.
Richard quickly pressed a 9. Then a 1. Then another 1. Then he lifted the phone to his mouth.
"There are kids here. One's really hurt. Blood everywhere." He spoke in a rush. The kids seemed to be ignoring him and talking among themselves.
"Ok…We've got you're location. Just make sure the kids stay there." Then 911 hung up.
He stayed there untill the ambulance got there. The kids didn't seem to notice him. Or maybe they were ignoring him. He asked if he could help once. But the girl had responded with a sharp no.
They were a family. He could tell that. And they didn't want outside help. But he also knew they need help right now.
Richard stayed untill the ambulance came. Then he left with a quick bye to the kids. He didn't want to miss breakfast. Or worry his family.
He hoped the kids would be okay though.
Um…Yeah. This was another one of my quick one-shots, so it's not that good. But be nice and review ok?
