After the homunculus' died, lieutenant Hawkeye and Cornall Mustang returned to their average lives as state alchemists. Riza walked into Roy's room. He was at the hospital because he had been shot very badly. She turned the knob and opened the door with a teddy bear that said get well in the other hand. When she walked in she saw Roy on the bed with his shirt off trying to get up.

"Sir! Where are you going?" she asks worried. He see's her at the side of his bed and clenches his teeth.

"Damn it lieutenant! What are you doing here?" Riza hides the bear behind her back and sighs.

"I asked a question first, answer me and i'll answer you..." For a few minutes there was silence. Riza looked away from Roy and started to head for the door. Suddenly she felt a strong grip on her sleeve so she looked back and, saw Mustang. His eyes casted down and he seemed to be blushing.

" I was going to see you..." Riza's eyes opened wide as she held her breath.

" Please don't leave me here alone." Although his head hung low she still saw a tear quickly escape his eye.

"I won't sir" She sat in a chair next to him watching as he was about to fall asleep when he said something she would have never expected.

"Riza can you lay next to me till I fall asleep..."

"But Cornall..." He cut her off with a please. Seeing an expression of weakness on his face she lied next to him. they were close enough to touch but, she kept distant. Before he fell asleep he smiled and relaxed his shoulders. Riza knew she should leave but, she saw his sleeping face and whispered to herself before sleeping.

"Why can't it be this way every night..." with that Riza drifted into sleep. The next morning Hawkeye woke up to someone embracing her from behind. She looked behind herself and saw Mustang looking into her eyes smiling brightly.

"It's about time you woke up." he laughed. Riza tensed and her face turned bright red.

"Ummm Sir?" He hushed her with a finger to her pink lips.

"Call me Roy... Riza" Roy brought his face close into Rizas until their noses touched. He whispered with a smile.

"I didnt realize it at first but, when Hughs was telling me to get a wife... He was referring to you." With a short move of his head their lips met passionately without any hesitation. The door creaked open without either of them knowing it and Edward peeked in and saw the two showing their feelings and whispered smiling.

"Hey Al, I think we should leave Mustang to rest." He shuts the door and leaves the two to finally melt into each others warmth. Hawkeye pulled away from her lover and chuckled.

"I never told you why I came" He smiles and lifts her chin.

"What was it?" She pulled out a piece of paper from her pocket and gave it to Roy. He questioningly opened it and saw the words I love you written in fancy writing. He looks back at his partners beautiful face and held it in his big hand.

"I always knew..."
