The Razor

PT: Drabble, I think. I was reading some Japanese fables (I even found about four that I've read before!) and I came upon this one called "The Razor". "The Razor-faced Man" or whatever. I thought of Kamio and An, because Kamio covers his face and everything with his hair on the left side. Heheh :D

Disclaimer: Yeah? Well, mada mada dane if you actually think I own Prince of Tennis or something.

I also do not own ANY Japanese stories. Honestly, I'm not even Japanese.

Time: Edo Period

"It is said, that if a girl holds a razor in her mouth, and watches a washbowl full of water at the strike of midnight, she will see the image of her future husband."

The young woman repeated those words in her head as she clamped a razor between her teeth.

Her name was Tachibana An, and she was the perfect image of a Yamato Nadeshiko. Although, she could sometimes be mouthy.

She had always wanted to try the trick. Besides, she was curious to see who her future husband was to be.

Moonlight reflected in the washbowl now, and An saw the image of a good-looking man with red hair.

"Ah!" It had actually worked! An, startled, opened her mouth in a gasp; out fell the razor, and it dropped into the water with a plop.

There was a splash—and the water seemed to turn scarlet. However, it was clear in a moment, and An was sure that she had imagined it.

An met a young man named Kamio after a decade, and they fell in love at once. They were mad about each other.

They got married, and it was only then when An noticed that she had never seen the left side of his face before. He always hid it behind a mass of longer hair.

"Show me your whole face!" she demanded one day.

When he refused, she protested: "Why?"

"Because," he answered, "someone once mangled it permanently with a razor."

"Kami, that's awful! Who did it?"

"You!"
