A/N: Hello there, this is a fan fiction series called Hotel Toon that I've been working on for a while. There are 24 written episodes and this is the very first one. Hotel Toon is set in the 1990s at a fictional hotel called The Animation Resort — a hotel for Toons in Orlando Florida. Not to be mistaken with the real Art of Animation Resort. They're not the same. Mint Clark from Rio Rainbow Gate is a time traveler, sent back to the 1990s to stop a great evil that is plaguing the future. She meets a bunch of cartoon characters like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Fred Flintstone and others. In this episode she's visiting the Animation Resort and Marvin the Martian tries to steal her teddy bear for an evil plot.
Mint Clark, a time traveler from the future, was in the 1990s. There is a great evil in her time period. She was sent back in time to the 1990s to stop this great evil from happening. She's from Rio Rainbow Gate, and was on vacation with her Grandpa in Orlando, Florida. The great evil hadn't happened yet, so they were killing some time by being on vacation. Her grandpa was also from the future. She was really excited about this vacation. "Hey Grandpa," Mint asked. "Where are we staying?"
"We're staying at the Animation Resort." said Grandpa. "It's a hotel for Toons. Toons of all kinds are welcome. You will really like it there. You'll find a lot of Toons at this hotel."
"That's awesome," said Mint. "You're the best."
"I always like to make my granddaughter happy," Grandpa said as they pulled into the hotel's parking lot.
Meanwhile, Bugs and Daffy had arrived as well. "Well here we are," said Bugs. "Pismo Beach and all the clams we can eat."
"What a way for a duck to travel," said Daffy. "Underground. Wait a minute, where's the sand? The ocean? Where are the waves? This doesn't look like Pismo Beach to me."
"You're right," said Bugs. "I knew I should've taken that left turn at Albuquerque."
"You always take the wrong turn!" Daffy snapped. "Every time I travel with you we always get lost! It'll take forever for us to get there!"
Bugs then looked around and saw the Animation Resort. "Hey look Daffy. That place looks nice." He read the sign: "'Animation Resort: Toons of all kinds are welcome.' This is right up our alley. I say we stay here for the night and go to Pismo Beach tomorrow."
"All right," said Daffy. "But next time I'm driving."
Bugs and Daffy entered the hotel where they saw Mint. "Nyeh, what's up doc?" Bugs said to Mint.
"It's Bugs Bunny!" Mint exclaimed. "I love your cartoons. You're famous!"
"What about me?!" said Daffy. "I'm famous too!"
"Are you Donald Duck?" she asked.
"No, I'm Daffy! You know, the silly black duck that's always with Bugs. You heard of me?"
"Oh yeah," said Mint. "You're the one that always gets shot by the hunter. But Bugs, you're really funny."
"Oh come on!" said Daffy. "They always like the rabbit and not the duck. I'm always referred to as the duck that gets shot by the hunter! Oh geez." Ignoring Mint, he checked into their Hotel room.
As they were walking down the hall to their rooms, they saw Fred Flintstone getting a Coke out of the vending machine. "Hey look, Bugs," said Mint. "It's Fred Flintstone."
"Oh I know that guy," said Bugs. "We both work for Warner Brothers."
"I thought Flintstones was Hanna-Barbera," Mint said.
"Technically, but Warner Brothers owns it."
"Oh," said Mint. "I didn't know that."
"Let's talk to him," said Bugs. "I'll introduce you. Hey, Fred!"
"Yabba dabba doo!" Fred exclaimed, turning around. "Hey Bugs, how's it going?" he said once he recognized who'd called out to him.
"It's going pretty well," said Bugs. "What's up, doc?"
"Nothing much," said Fred. "I'm on vacation with my family. Pebbles is really excited about Disney World."
"I see," said Bugs. "Daffy and I were trying to get to Pismo Beach and ended up here by mistake, so we're only staying one night."
"So who's this?" asked Fred, gesturing to Mint.
"Oh," said Bugs. "Allow me to introduce her. This is Mint. Mint, this is Fred."
"Nice to meet you, Fred I'm from a show called Rio Rainbow Gate. I love your show."
"Well my show is really popular." said Fred. "Even other Toons watch it."
"Hey Fred," said Bugs, "I need to unpack, but after I'm settled into my room how about we eat lunch?"
"That's a good idea," agreed Daffy. "I'm hungry."
"You're always hungry," Bugs replied, rolling his eyes at Daffy.
"Sure," Fred said before Daffy could reply. "I'll eat with you."
After they settled into their rooms, they entered the restaurant. When they got there, the waitress came to take their orders. "Hello there, my name is Rio from Rio Rainbow Gate and I'll be your waitress for today. What would you like to drink?" As Rio left to get their orders, the toons she walked by stared after her, their eyes turning into hearts.
"That waitress is so beautiful," Daffy sighed.
"Too bad I'm married," said Fred.
"I really like that girl," Mint said, not understanding Fred's comment. "She's a friend of mine."
"She is?" asked Bugs.
"That's right," said Mint. "She's from the same show as me."
"I didn't know that."
"I can say she is really amazing," said Bugs. "But I'm devoted to Lola."
"You're lucky you have a girlfriend," Daffy whined. "I have no one. I'm gonna try to get this Rio girl if you know what I mean."
"Try all you want," said Bugs, "but I don't think you can."
"What!?" Daffy demanded. "Of course I can! Just you wait, Bugs! If you can get a girlfriend, I can get one too."
"Who's Lola?" asked Mint. "Oh, Lola is this girl that Warner Bros. is drawing for me," said Bugs, "for in this new movie that combines live action with cartoon. It's still in the making."
"Ohh," said Mint. "That's really cool. I wish I was in a movie like that."
In reality Rio was from the future as well as Mint and her Grandpa, they have traveled back in time to the 1990s to stop a great evil from happening in their time. Rio was disguised as a waitress so that she could stop the evil. That's why nobody had heard of Rio Rainbow Gate. They didn't want to tell Bugs and the others that they were from the future. They would think Mint and Rio were crazy. That's why Rio and Mint were at this hotel.
Just then Marvin the Martian showed up. "There you are puny earth girl," Marvin cried, waving his gun in the air. "I want your teddy bear. Hand it over now!"
"What?" Mint gasped. "I can't give away my teddy bear! I love it."
"Then I'll shall take it by force!"
"Hold on a minute, doc," said Bugs. "I'm not gonna let you steal her bear."
As Rio returned with the drinks she saw what was going on. "Listen Marvin," she said, "if you want a teddy bear you can go to the gift shop. It has all kinds of stuffed animals."
"I don't want a bear from a gift shop," said Marvin. "I need that girl's bear for my plan. You are making me very angry. Now give me that bear, little girl!"
"Well I won't let you," said Bugs. "If you want that teddy bear, you have to go through me to get it."
"Bugs is right," said Daffy, puffing up his scrawny chest. "I won't let you go any farther."
"You'll also have to go through me," Fred added.
"You have all made a big mistake," said Marvin. "You've made me very angry."
"We'll take it from here," Bugs told Rio. "You take Mint somewhere safe. We'll fight off this Martian."
"Don't worry, Bugs," said Rio. "I'll make sure Mint is out of harm's way." Taking the little girl's hand, she led her out of the room.
"Bugs, you owe me for this," Daffy said.
Marvin leapt forward, aiming his gun at Bugs' chest. Before he could fire, though, Fred hit him with his club, knocking him unconscious, and the three of them escaped.
"That was easy," Daffy commented. "Good thing you stepped in, Fred, or I might've had to do some serious damage!"
Bugs rolled his eyes. "Sure you would've, Daff."
After that Bugs, Daffy, and Fred met up with Rio and Mint. "Is he gone?" Mint asked.
"Don't worry," said Fred. "He's unconscious on the floor somewhere, and won't get you for a while."
"But he might come back," said Bugs, "so we have to be on our guard."
"Stay on your guard for what?" said a voice that sounded Italian. Everyone turned around and saw Mario and Luigi. "Is everything okay?" he asked, his bushy eyebrows drawing together in concern.
"We were attacked by Marvin the Martian," Mint explained. "He wanted my teddy bear.
"Yes, I saw," said Mario. "We were sitting nearby and saw the commotion and wanted to see if we could help. But I guess we shouldn't have worried, since you defeated him so easily."
"That guy was a piece of cake," said Bugs. "I've beaten that maroon dozens of times. He got what was coming to him."
"Actually I was the one who knocked him out," said Fred. "I hit him with my club, remember?"
"Oh yeah," said Bugs.
"Oh!" Mario slapped his forehead. "We forgot to introduce ourselves. It's-a me, Mario."
"And I'm Luigi."
"I know who you are," said Mint. "You're from the Mario games. I'm Mint, from Rio Rainbow Gate."
"I've never heard of you," Mario said, glancing awkwardly up at his brother. "Have you?"
"No, I haven't, either," Luigi replied with an apologetic smile. Changing the subject quickly, he turned to Bugs. "And what's your name, long eared fella?"
"I'm Bugs Bunny! Haven't you heard of me?"
"Sorry," said Mario, "we're from Japan. We don't know much about American cartoons."
"But I thought you were from Brooklyn," Mint said.
"In the games we are," said Mario, "but our maker was Japanese, so we live in Japan."
"Have you at least heard of me?" Daffy demanded.
"Sorry," said Mario, "we haven't."
"Come on," said Daffy. "No one has heard of me?" He crossed his arms over his chest, pouting. "Bugs Bunny is well known, and I'm just a reject."
Meanwhile in the lobby, Alvin and the Chipmunks, along with the Chipettes, arrived at the Hotel for a vacation. "This will be the best!" Alvin shouted, jumping up and down. "Ah, Florida. It has great places to see like Walt Disney World (the happiest place on Earth), Universal Studios, even Sea World! This is a Toon paradise."
"Don't get too excited," said Simon. "Remember what happened on our last vacation? You accidentally broke a vase at the Hotel while you were fighting with Brittany and we had to pay for it. We also got kicked out of that hotel."
"Oh come on, Simon!" said Alvin. "This hotel is made for Toons like us. What could possibly go wrong here?"
"Remember Alvin," said Brittany, "this is our vacation too."
"Please don't have us kicked out of this hotel," Eleanor added. "I don't want to be in another mess like that again."
"Don't worry," said Alvin with a grin, "nothing like that will happen again. What could possibly go wrong here?"
"Let's just get checked in and start our vacation before we get into any trouble," said Theodore.
"Good idea," replied Jeanette. After they checked in, the Chipettes went down the hall and ran into Mint and the rest, who were still trying to figure out what to do.
"Hey everybody," said Mint, " It's the Chipettes from Alvin and the Chipmunks! I love that show." She stepped forward, beaming. "Hi, I'm Mint Clark from Rio Rainbow Gate."
"Rio Rainbow Gate?" repeated Brittany. "Never heard of it."
"Me neither," said Eleanor.
"Hey, isn't that Bugs Bunny?" Brittany asked, distracted from the conversation.
"Why yes I am," said Bugs.
"I love your show," Brittany gushed. "Me and my sisters would love to hear your catchphrase. Could you please say it for us?"
"Catchphrase? Huh . . ." Bugs scratched his head, pretending to look confused. "Do you mean this catchphrase: Nyeh, what's up, doc?"
The Chipettes cheered. "That was great, Bugs," Brittany said. "You're so cool."
"Ah, it's nothing," he said, waving their compliments away and noticing the Chipmunks. "It's been a while, boys."
The Chipettes' mouths fell open. "You know each other?" Eleanor asked in awe.
"We were in a special together," Bugs explained. "An anti-drug PSA. The president introduced it and everything."
"Alvin and the Chipmunks told us all about it," said Jeanette. "I remember now! They said they enjoyed meeting you."
"What about me?" Daffy cried, impatient with being ignored.
"Who's the duck?" asked Eleanor.
"Very funny," said Daffy, flinging his wings into the air and gearing up to have a fit. "Let's all forget the duck, why don't we?"
"Just kidding," said Eleanor, smiling at him. "We like you as much as Bugs."
Daffy paused with his arms still in the air. "You really mean it?" When she nodded, he leapt into the air. "That's the best thing I ever heard! I knew I had some fans."
They were suddenly interrupted by a familiar voice: "I found you, Earth girl!" They all turned to see Marvin, his ray gun pointed at them. "So you thought you could get away from me? You can't get rid of me that easily. Now give me your teddy bear."
"I thought you'd been taught a lesson, doc," said Bugs, stepping forward so that he was in front of the kids. "I'm warning you, stay away from her."
"You think you can stop me rabbit," said Marvin. "You're wrong. I know how to use this gun, so hand it over, little girl! You are making me very angry!"
Bugs surprised everyone by holding his hands up in the air like he was surrendering. "I guess we have no choice. It looks like you outsmarted me, so here you go." He plucked Mint's teddy bear out of the girl's hands.
"What are you doing?" she hissed, reaching for the bear.
"Trust me," Bugs whispered, holding it out of her reach. "I know what I'm doing." He started to give it to Marvin. "Here's your teddy bear." As the alien reached for it, however, Bugs swung it hard, knocking the gun out of Marvin's hand before giving the bear back to Mint. "Now run!"
They all started sprinting for the stairs, hearing Marvin's shout of frustration behind them. "Do we split up?" Rio asked as they reached a landing.
"Don't leave me alone!" Mint begged, grabbing Bugs' and Rio's hands.
Looking down at the girl, Bugs shook his head. "We'll stick together, all right. Down that hallway, quick!"
Unfortunately, the hallway was a dead end, with only an elevator and no stairs. Daffy pushed the button frantically, but the doors didn't open.
"Is this thing broken or something?" he demanded, hammering at the button until he accidentally smashed it.
"Well it is now!" Alvin said, annoyed. "Good going, Daffy."
But Marvin had caught up with them. "All right little girl, that bear is mine."
Mint glared at him, lifting up her chin. "You have made me very angry," she said. "Verrry angry."
"Hey! That's my line," Marvin complained.
While he was distracted by that, she reached behind her back, pulling a big sledge hammer out of the empty air and whacking Marvin with it, knocking him to the ground.
"Mr. Martian," Mint said, standing over him while he rubbed a large bump on his head, "out with it. Why do you want my teddy bear so badly?"
"That teddy bear is made from a special cotton only found on Mars. It was the perfect bear to power up my laser to destroy the earth. That's why I wanted it." He pushed on the bump, flattening it back into his head. There were still birds flying around him, though, so he was too dizzy to get back up.
"Hey, wait a minute," Jeanette exclaimed as she looked at the tag on Mint's bear. "This says, 'Made in China.' It's not from Mars at all."
"What?! Let me see that." Climbing to his feet and waving the birds away, he peered at the tag. "Oh dear," he groaned. "Then it looks like our fight was a waste. Sorry for the trouble." Before anyone could say something, he reached into his pocket, found a new elevator button and put it where the old one had gone, and disappeared into the elevator.
"Well, that was pointless," Daffy said, shaking his head.
"At least you don't have to fix the elevator anymore," Mario pointed out.
The next day Mint went down to the lobby to go eat breakfast at the restaurant, where she found Bugs. "Good morning Mint," he said. "I changed my mind."
"About what?"
"Daffy and I were supposed to only spend one night here and head to Pismo Beach today, but this hotel has anything a toon could ask for, so I'm gonna have my vacation here instead."
"That's great!"
"Wait," Daffy said, coming up behind them, "we're not going to Pismo Beach?
"Nope," answered Bugs.
"C'mon," said Daffy, "I've been looking forward to Pismo Beach all year!"
"Daff," said Bugs, "this place is a toons' paradise."
"But what about the surfing? The tanning? The waves? I wanna go to Pismo Beach!"
"We can go next year. Florida has plenty of nice beaches, plus Walt Disney World."
"Walt Disney World," Daffy reflected. Then he brightened, jumping up into the air and landing dressed in a Hawaiian shirt and mouse ears. "Then I'm in! What ride should we go on first? Space Mountain? Big Thunder Mountain Railroad? Haunted Mansion? We really need to go on those. Which Disney character do you want to see first?"
"Let's just eat breakfast first, Daffy," Bugs said with a laugh.
"Fine," Daffy sighed. "But you promise we can go on all the rides, right?"
"Of course," he replied, ruffling Mint's hair. "I think we'll be staying here for a while."
The End
