Heyy :) This is my first Vampire Diaries story and I really hope you guys like it. If you guys are a Delena and a Steroline fan, this is something dark and sexy for you.
"So...what's up with you and Damon?" Bonnie curiously asked while unpacking her luggage.
Caroline, Elena and Bonnie had finally graduated high school; summer quickly ended (obviously), surprisingly without any supernatural war and tomorrow was their first day of college. The three of them had just arrived and were unpacking, while Caroline and Bonnie were interrogating Elena.
"Spill Elena, tell us everything but do us a favour and spare the details!" Caroline giggled followed by Bonnie's titter.
Elena's cheeks turned slightly red, "Nothing happened, we just went on a little holiday together. That's it."
"Oh come-on Elena, you are still an awful liar" Bonnie said while ruffling through her boxes.
"Fine, but first you have to help me get my other luggage and boxes" Elena asked.
"Done." Bonnie replied.
Bonnie and Elena went out of the dorm to get their luggage while Caroline neatly put her clothes in the closet. As she was colour coordinating her closet she heard footsteps approaching her, she was about to rip his/her head out until she heard...
"Hi Caroline" his voice was sensual and commanding yet soft.
"Stefan" she said in disbelief as if she had seen a vampire (oh wait...she did)
***Flashback***
It was the day before the summer holidays. Everybody was at the forest celebrating graduation along with Stefan and Caroline.
"Hey Stefan, can I talk to you for a bit?" Caroline asked.
"Sure, what's up?" Stefan answered.
"I just wanted to tell you that I am thankful and grateful for everything you have done for me. Like; helping me control my hunger for blood, protecting me from the many creatures that have tried to kill me and most importantly for being there for me. You are extremely caring, understanding and funny and...I need to tell you something because if I don't will regret it for the rest of my life. So here it goes...I think I have fallen in love with you and I know it has only been few weeks since you broke up with Elena but..." she said as fast as she could because if she didn't she most probably would have fainted.
Stefan stood there in shock, he didn't show it but Caroline knew.
"Please say something" she said while looking slightly light-headed.
No reply.
She turned back and started to walk away feeling extremely embarrassed but as soon as she could take her first step, Stefan caught her hand and pulled her, facing her towards him.
Moments later, he let her hand lose and said "Caroline, I can't."
Caroline ran as fast as she could away from Stefan, she felt all her emotions piling up on her. She felt angry which was nothing compared to the pain she endured. Seconds later, Stefan caught up with her and stopped her, she tried to run away again but Stefan got a hold of her first,
"Listen Caroline, you were, are and will always be one of my closest friends and would never do anything to jeopardise that. Right now I am not ready for a relationship, I need a friend more than I need a girlfriend." Stefan said trying to be as sincere as possible in a situation like this.
They never spoke to each other or even saw each other after this incident, Caroline was too embarrassed to meet Stefan. But now, she doesn't have a choice.
