A fair warning to all.

I am only doing this for fun and it is possible that this may never be updated again. There is no scripted plot to this story and there is likely to be many mistakes as I have never written a story before. Regardless of this, I accept all criticism and appreciate feedback.

Light shone onto his face and he flinched as he lazily rubbed at his eyes and wrestled away his blanket. He groggily rose from his stiff bed and made way to the bathroom to complete his usual routine. As he entered the bathroom, his sapphire eyes were attracted by letters that hung over his blond hair in the mirror in front of him.

Naruto Uzumaki - Kyuubi Jinchuuriki

Naruto blearily shook his head, attempting to affirm the existence of the label. Once he found it to be real, he moved to touch it, but his hand connected with nothing but air as the letters phased through. He considered what the phrase after his name meant, only recognizing the name of the infamous chakra beast. He decided to ask someone later.

'Weird," he thought. His face showed signs of confusion as his hands formed a sign and he stated, "Kai."

The text above his head remained unchanged. Naruto scratched his his head in puzzlement before he resolved to deal with it after getting ready.

Suddenly, a blue box appeared before him. Naruto startled, animatedly jumping back with his arms waving while the box followed in front of him. His head banged against the door behind him and he clutched the back of his head although he didn't really feel pain.

'Kami,' he cursed inwardly as he righted himself.

Choose defining stat:

Chakra Control (Cc): Ability to manipulate chakra

Strength (Str): Raw physical ability

Stamina (Sta): Perform physical tasks for long period of time

Dexterity (Dex): Physical flexibility and maneuverability

Naruto focused an unnaturally long time at the space in front of him before realising that the text would not disappear on its own. As he considered the choice in front of him, his mind wandered, imagining being the best at one of the aforementioned traits. Despite the voice in the back of the head insisting that it was fake, he could not help but wonder.

He considered each option, heavily tempted to pick strength but thought better of it and examined the rest. Unbidden, words he heard at the academy echoed in his mind.

'There will come a time when all your hard work is for naught and chance robs you of success. There are forces out there stronger than you ever will be. In the end, all that can be done is your best'

The blond haired boy considered the last option and questioned, 'What would happen if I was the luckiest person in the world?'

The rest of the options blurred in the background as he focused on the possibilities and he pressed luck. The blue display wavered before disappearing. After nothing happened for a few moments, Naruto let the tension in his shoulders go and once again resolved to deal with the consequences after he was ready.

After taking a shower, and with more of a bounce in his step, Naruto excitedly dressed in his bright orange jumpsuit and prepared his best dish; instant ramen. While he devoured his breakfast, his mind went back to the floating text he found and deliberated over what to do. Knowing that he was soon going to meet the Hokage, who he affectionately referred to as Jiji, he decided there was no better person to take his problems to.

The blue-eyed boy left his small apartment and continued his way to a training ground to start his day. After all, he was going to need to practice to be one of the the best ninja one day. Regardless of the fact that he had only recently failed to graduate early for the second time due to his inability to perform the basic jutsu, bunshin, Naruto kept his hopes high and was sure that he was going to pass the next time.

As he traveled down the familiar route, Naruto marveled at being able to see anyone's name. Most had a phrase after their name which he now began to realise may show how those people were best known. It reaffirmed the need for him to understand the meaning of his own title, Kyuubi Jinchuuriki. He had somehow avoided freaking out over having the nine-tailed beast being mentioned so carelessly but was sure that it was very important to know.

With practiced ease and his familiar bubbly persona in place, the ninja wannabe moved through the glaring crowd. Their disgust filled gazes were something he had become used to and was quick to dismiss. Whoever he asked about the attitude they held towards him were quick to ignore him and move on. Even the Hokage avoided the topic furthering his interest in the title that had appeared above him.

He considered the possibility that this may be his kekkei genkai awakening and looked forward to finding out more about the odd phenomenon.

He finally approached the training field that he most often used and was about to begin his usual routine before he noticed a scroll lying on the ground. Naruto looked around to possibly spot the owner of the scroll but found no one that may own it. His curiosity piqued, he moved to pick up the scroll and found that it talked about something called a chakra control exercise. He groaned in frustration, it was one of his worst areas. Knowing that it was the reason that he did not graduate, he sat down and began to read through it before another pop up appeared.

After being thoroughly awed by the idea of simply learning something by only holding the scroll for it, he pressed yes. He was suddenly bombarded with the knowledge of what he was supposed to do. He attempted it and the wood under his blue ninja sandals cracked and exploded throwing him into the ground. Naruto yelped as he protected his eyes form the bark with his arm. He looked up at the tree in betrayal before his face twisted up in resolve and he began to go again. It seemed that 'learning' the technique would only give him the knowledge which he would then have to practice to make effective. He tackled the exercise with fervor until suddenly a blue screen popped up once again.

Naruto looked at it with wide eyes uncomprehendingly before he tapped it and it expanded into a larger window.

Overwhelmed by the amount of information that he was seeing, Naruto took a minute to comprehend it all and attempted to understand it. Form what he could understand, his kekkei genkai was allowing him to completely change how the world affected him and how he saw the world. He stood in awe for a moment before he realized that he could now see all his effort in numbers allowing him to see what he needed to improve on the most. Delving into the details of the skills showed how practice and his stats would determine how good he could get with them.

With a spring in his step, Naruto made his way to Ichiraku's, his favorite ramen place, to meet the Hokage. He looked forward to seeing his expression after revealing that he had a kekkei genkai.
