Challenge
I want to write a reboot of Naruto, a total reboot with only changes that feel right from the first one. The first change...
I realized that my favorite stories either are clear where they are going ( Like Turn of a Hero, where Naruto is turning on the village) or are total reboots from a certain point ( Pulling my weight and Genius Sensei are great examples).
I need the challenge to see where I stand. I usually write stories where a huge event happens and I can't figure out the ending so the story drifts. This is my challenge to myself. I know the story, or at least the parts that a change in Naruto's character cannot create. We all know that stuff. I want it to feel right though, real, and genuine.
I want honest opinions and reviews. Be brutal but point out the good as well as the bad so I can grow.
I got an idea literally as I wrote this, where he gets in trouble for stealing the scroll... put on probation is he forced to grow or fail.
or maybe another incident since he broke a lot of laws...
The other idea is where he overhears the injuries that Sasuke did to him and so on from some nurses gossiping. They talk about how outmatched he was and how lucky he was to rely on Kyuubi as a crutch to fight Sasuke but also learns that using Kyuubi is making him lose his lifeforce( This is canon fact). His ego hurt, he trains hard during the trip and starts to grow up under Jiraiya's nose. He is not able to really bond with his old life once he returns, as he has grown so much into such a different person. His skills would be realistic and powerful but not overly so. ( If you chose this one, give me suggestions.)
