I hope you like this new story I am writing! I have some really cool ideas for this one! But I have to give credit and thanks to NoWordsDiscribeMe because it was his idea he was just nice enough to let me write it!

Disclaimer: I do not own Rangers Apprentice, most of the characters or the original idea (I know it's a lot!)

Chapter 1 - Danger

Her breath was labored as she ran. 'must… find…have to…' her thoughts ran away, sliding together. She didn't stop, didn't look back, she just kept running, trying to find the small cabin in the middle of the forest. Normally, it would have been easy to find but she was on the verge of panicking and thinking clearly was far from reach.

She stopped running and quickly looked around, studying the surrounding area. There was no one around there was only the company of the trees. She reached back and took out the map she had been given. She had already gone over it and over it until it was imprinted in her mind, after all, couriers were taught to remember things like this, but for some reason she couldn't find the cabin 'I have to find it!' she thought 'For Lady Pauline, I promised her I would find help!'

**Flashback**

Alyss and Lady Pauline sat over the desk in their office looking at the report, trying to find a solution or reason to the problem that had presented itself. "I think we should show this to the baron," suggested Alyss.

"I think you might be right, he might have an idea as to what is going on here," agreed Pauline, "let's go."

Just as she went to roll up the report there was a loud bang at the door, "who's there?" called Alyss. There was no answer, just another bang. It was louder this time, "WHO IS THERE!" shouted Pauline as she moved across the floor with the scrolls until she was behind the desk with Alyss.

There were two more loud bangs that shook the door before it finally gave way. The wooden door flew across the room, shattering as it hit the floor. The two couriers looked up from the broken door to see three men with brown leather vests and green cloaks on standing in the doorway. Their faces blank and expressionless, their eyes were very much the same.

The men moved in and started surrounding the girls, two of them moved to the sides while the other walked forward to stand in front of the desk – the only thing separating them.

"What do you want?" Lady Paulines voice was thick with nervousness and fear, that alone scared Alyss, way more than the men did. Lady Pauline could always mask her emotions to see that mask breaking was altogether frightening.

"It's not what we want, it's our master who wants to see you. So you're coming with us."

**End Of Flashback**

Alyss had managed to escape but Lady Pauline wasn't so lucky, the men had grabbed her when she and Alyss had tried to duck underneath the table. In fact they had both been caught but Alyss bit the man and he had let her go. She felt like a coward for leaving Pauline there with them, but her mentor had told her to get away and find the ranger Halt. Now she was running from one of the men who had followed her, her mentor had been taken and on top of that she had no idea where she was.

'Everything looks the same!' she thought, VERY angry by this point. Just then she her a twig snap behind her and she spun around to see the man with a knife in his hands.

There that is chapter 1 the other chapters will most likely be double this one in length(unless there is a really good cliffie – like this one!).
