Title: Secret Object

A/N: I had this on my computer about a year ago. I wanted to write a story with my OTP. One of my first attempts at writing. Not the best it's really, incomplete because I wanted more substance but I came a cross this on my pc thinking..don't think I can think of anything more, what the hey I'll put this up. I had other extended versions of this in mind but it's hard for me to put into words. Maybe later I'll do a re-write if I come up with something maybe a sequel... I'm not familiar with uploading so it, looks off here sorry. I know it's short, I hope you enjoyed reading it anyway.
He spotted something odd in the drawer. Renji took it out to look at it...it felt warm. Huh, he thought to himself. Why would Kuchiki Taichou have something like this? But upon closer inspection it looked familiar. He wondered why it was doing there.
Byakuya's POV
I don't know what I was thinking keeping this, he thought to himself. Looking at it now made him think of that time.. That time that Renji had stayed by his side. While he recovered day after day his fukutaicho would stop by to see how he was doing. He didn't really expect him to do anything like that after all that happened between them. The redhead's words played in his mind "because I'm your fukutaicho".On his last day of recovery he had found the object on the the little side table next to where Renji would sit. He had obviously left it there. Renji had a habit of carrying that pocket knife with him and start carving something when he was bored. There were even times he had to remind him there were plenty to do besides carve wood. He was sure it wasn't intended to be for him but for some strange reason he took and kept it anyway. He kept it his drawer .He even forgot he had it there. Until recently.
To someone it may look like just an unfinished carving of what looked like a dog but it meant much more... It was a reminder of his fukutaichou's loyalty.
The redhead was so distracted by his discovery he hadn't noticed Byakuya reitsu approaching.
Suddenly the door to Byakuya's office opened and low and behold in walks his captain. Renji quickly shut the drawer just in time.
"Abarai, is there something you need or to talk to me about?"
Renji looked at him sheepishly.."uh nothing Taichou".
Renji lifted up some folder off Byakuya's desk to show him. "I just uh...wanted to give you these files."
It was actually files he had dropped off in his officed an hour ago before..but because Byakuya had to attend an impromptu meeting he didn't get to see them. Renji flashed him a nervous smile.
"Is that all?" the Noble asked.
"Hai, Taichou." and with that he was wordlessly dismissed.
A part of Renji wanted to ask about it but decided not too. For all he knew it didn't mean anything...still he hoped he was wrong of thinking the latter. Whatever the reason was he couldn't help but smile at the thought of it all.
