Chapter One A Nymph is Born

Atlas was sitting out front of his house on the bright sunny day. A wood nymph wondered upon him. He recognized the nymph as being related to one of his lovers. But what surprised him the most was what was in the nymph's arms. Wrapped in a nice warm blanket was a small bundle. He moved closer to the nymph.

"Are you Atlas?" asked the wood nymph with a sneer on his face. He did not favor the Titans at all.

Atlas nodded.

"Who sent you?" he asked eyes on the bundle of blankets.

"I was sent by another nymph. You may know her better than myself."

The nymph shifted the bundle of blankets. A tiny fist came out of the blankets. A child. There was a child in the blankets. By the looks of the fist it was a newborn. He walked closer.

"A child?" he whispered.

Atlas had heard a rumor among the wood nymphs that one of them was to have a child. That was when he remembered his tryst with that wood nymph about nine months ago. He moved closer to the other man. He was close enough to look into the bundle of blankets.

The child he found was quite beautiful. There was tuft of blonde hair on the child's head. And the grey eyes held intelligence beyond there years. She was quite beautiful. He smiled down on the tiny child.

"Is it a male or a female child?" he asked.

"It is a female," was the curt reply.

The nymph placed the child in Atlas' arms. He turned to leave.

"What is the child's name?" he called after the nymph. "Where is the mother?"

"The mother is dead. She was not named."

With that the wood nymph was gone back to his forest home.

The child stared up Atlas with those eyes. He could tell by the look in her eyes that life was not going to be fair to this child. But for now.

"Why don't we get you settled down for bed little one?" asked Atlas. "Whilst I think up a goodly and proper name for you."

He didn't know how to care for a child. But he'd figure it out as he went along. He had one of his servants prepare a place for the child to sleep.

"Look at her," cooed one of the women. "She is the sweetest baby I've seen."

Anna the woman who had said this looked at the child. Anna was a seer.

"I see many trials in your future child," said Anna. "But for now you must sleep dear Calypso."

Atlas liked the name so much that he decided that was going to be her name. And that was how Calypso found her way to her father Atlas for the first of many times in her life.

On the day she was born.

This is the first of many chapters. What Anna sees will be including in the next chapter. I hope you all enjoy.
