Tribute to Fred Wesley
April the first. The war was already over. One year had passed. But George felt something was missing. And how wouldn't he? His twin brother had died during the battle.
This was his first birthday after the war. And George was going to enjoy it alone. He couldn't see his family without breaking down. Fred was his other half, and this was dead now.
Nothing was Leith for him, George though every day. When he saw himself in the mirror that morning, he could do nothing more than cry. He was so similar to him. Although, George wished he had died and not Fred.
Throughout the week, the only thing he could think of was Fred. And the way that he felt now, alone, always that loneliness rounding him. He Lockheed all their photos together since little kids, and the last ones where he was standing alone. Well he was rounded by his family, but he was alone. Without him. Without Fred.
There was no more Fred & George, George & Fred. Weasley's Wizard Wheezes was not fun any more, the family reunions weren't the same, nobody mixed his name any more, everybody knew he was George and not Fred.
He was wondering in his own thoughts when he heard an odd sound. When he turned round he saw a picture fall to the floor. In it, Fred and he were standing together, in diapers. It was his favourite picture. And also Fred's. Suddenly, he understood that he would never be alone. Because Fred lived inside him. Inside the memories and joked they created together.
That same evening, George went to the graveyard and left some flowers to his brother, without knowing this was looking at him from behind and whispering to the wind… "Happy Birthday Brother"
