July 4-Earth: I had hope while we were at Grandpa's house I would get to do some new things but noooo.the big.oversize family has to get together. talk.talk and talk. Boring.
The Humans or Americans has this big celebration called Independence Day. It is something about winning a war against their parent country to gain their freedom. My first mistake was to ask Daddy why they would want to celebrate that. Now I have to read a history book about America. Daddy said if I am to understand where he comes from, that I needed to know something of its history. Mommy was right he could be confusing at times. I just don't understand what he means if I am to understand him.I mean he is my Daddy what is there to understand. Frell.it just wasn't fair.
The family has been cooking all afternoon and we still can't eat. So I try to play with some of my cousins, until Indya, my Aunt Susan's bratty daughter wanted to get her way, she decided to take her frustrations out on me. Forcing me to take action by pushing her down. Now I have to sit here for time out and think on my actions. Which was really nothing. The brat started it. Humans.
I wish Mommy was here she wouldn't let them treat me this way. Ian had gone with Grandpa to the store and Daddy had taken Mommy with him to buy more fireworks. None of the relatives will come and talk to me. I feel that they are scared of Ian and me. I am glad Daddy gave me this diary to write in. He's right it does help to write your thoughts down.
Glancing back over at the relatives they act as if I'm not even here. I wish we were back on Moya. Sometime it could really be boring with only Ian to play with, but at lease Uncle D'Argo, Auntie Chi, Moya, Pilot and even Rygel liked us. But here we have to be accompanied by guards every time we go out. Mommy said it's just that Humans were still not comfortable with having aliens among them. She said it would take time for them to get use to the idea. I thing it will take about another trillion cycles for that to happen.
Glancing around I noticed no one was paying attention to me. Good, because I wanted to escape to my room. Who really care about this gathering? They could take this frelling Human holiday and keep it. I almost made it to the back door when Aunt Olivia came out it. She wanted to know where I was going.
Looking up at her, I put my little-girl-lost-face on. She stooped down in front of me and asked what was wrong. I like Aunt Olivia and didn't want to hurt her feelings, but then I was always to tell the truth. So, I did. She reached out and took me into her arms and hugged me close. The felt good.
An hour later: Mommy and Daddy came back with Grandpa and Ian following close behind. Finally, they announced we could eat. Daddy and Grandpa showed us how to fire off some fireworks. It was so drad. Even Mommy wanted to get in on the action. My cousin Indya is such a wimp; she just hung onto her mother and whimpered.
Grandpa announced that we were going to see the big fireworks. We all loaded into the van and headed off. Ian started asking why they celebrated a war. He didn't understand when we had been told that war was wrong. Daddy looked back at me and asked what the book said. So now, it is my duty to explain it to Ian all about this American thing. That means I really have to read that book.some things are just not fair.
