Summary JJ mightn't have the most dependable friends, but he can always count on them when he really needs them.
Disclaimer I own nothing. This is fiction.
Pairing Freddie/JJ. I just for the life of me, can't get into a slash pairing with Cook. He's too much of a ladies man. Sorry folks.
Rating PG-13
In Times of Need
JJ sighed in relief as the door shut behind him, drowning out the noises of the party. Why did he let Cook take him to these parties? He hated them. There was so many people around and so much noise. The group all seperated as soon as they got in the door. Katie would try to find a cute guy, Pandora and Thomas headed for the dance floor, Cook went to find a girl, Emily and Naomi found a dark corner and Freddie drifted off after Effie. Being alone sucked. He moved to sit on the bed in the middle of the room. JJ sighed to himself. He always ended up like this. Either alone in a bedroom or in a corner, locked on, until Freddie or Emily came to get him. He hated this. He hated being alone, but all the others had relationships. Or sex. JJ had neither. He was too shy for either. God, he couldn't even have sex with that protitute that time. And now Cook seemed to have forgotten about him. Cook moped and had sex now. He was still Cook, just not as.....lively. JJ flinched as a body slammed off the door. He hated these parties. It was all sex, drugs and alcohol. JJ just didn't care about those things. He sighed and collapsed onto the bed in the room. He closed his eyes. Sure, he wouldn't get any rest, but maybe he could clear his head. JJ sat upright as the door to the room opened. He smiled as Freddie walked into the room.
"Hey, need to get away from Effie. She's getting clingy."
"Cook is getting mopey. Freddie, do you ever regret getting with Effie?"
Freddie looked at his younger friend. The magician was staring at the bedspread and was picking at a scab on his wrist. Freddie could see blood forming at the edges. He grabbed JJ's hands and held them on his lap. He gently stroked the soft skin of JJ's palm.
"Yes. She's not the girl I thought she was. Plus, I know she's still having sex with Cook. I'm not stupid."
JJ flinched again as another body slammed into the door. He hated this. Freddie saw his flinch and felt his anger at Cook grow. He knew JJ wasn't good at things like this. The smaller boy was fine, if he had a friend with him. If Freddie knew he was going to be here, he would have come with him. He would have stayed with him. Not abandoned him like Cook. He smiled at JJ, who looked upset.
"Look, JJ. He's still my best friend. Always will be. Don't worry, kay?"
JJ nodded.
"Hey, why are you here? These are all your skater friends. You should be with them."
Freddie smiled to himself. He knew why he was here. He took a moment to look at his friend. JJ wasn't classically handsome. But there was something there. The pale skin, the curly hair and those blue eyes. He moved closer.
"Just wanted to be with someone I really care about."
JJ felt himself relax as Freddie's lips pressed to his and a tongue slipped into his mouth. So Cook wasn't dependable. JJ had other friends. And he had Freddie. Sweet, cute, dependable Freddie, who always came when he needed him. He relaxed into the larger boy's arms. Screw Cook, screw the pills and the party. As Freddie lowered him onto the bed, one thought ran through JJ's mind, Freddie was a great friend.
A/N Done. R&R please. Like I said up there I just don't really like Cook, so, sorry to people who wanted him with JJ.
