Many people believe that the Princesses are the reason why Equestria is safe, and many people believe that, but it's only half true. They do keep everyone safe, but they order others to do it. I am one of those others, I'm no guard or regular soldier, I'm a shadow.
I move during the night and eliminate enemies of the state. I have no regret in what I do because I save thousands of lives in the process. I have no family, no friends, only my other shadows.
We are not given names, it would be too personal of a connection with others, instead we are given numbers and letters. I am 777JS777, I was given a nickname by my fellow shadows, Lucky 7, or just Lucky.
We didn't choose to become shadows, but were plucked out of society from a young age to become the killers we are. I was told my parents left me to rot in a gutter, but I have no memory of my childhood, no memory of family. The last thing I remember is waking up in my bed and hearing a woman talk to me. It was Celestria, telling me of my past and why I was where I was. I had no choice but to believe her.
"You are the defense me or my sister can't be," she said to me, "You will give your life for the protection of this nation, and you will do it with no one ever knowing," these words I hear every day when I wake up, it's like they are burned into my brain.
The Princess has given me a new objective, "Protect Twilight," I had no idea who Twilight was and I didn't care, Celestria gave me an order, so I will carry it out until I'm dead.
