Dear Sir,

We, the hourly paid shop staff, wish to express our bitter disappointment at being publically singled out as undeserving of the annual pay increase which has been awarded to the rest of the staff of the Dean and Chapter.

It would appear that some of the shop staff are to be treated as a separate entity, not only are our hours and pay subject to monthly changes but it seems that any increase in our wage is now to be solely dependent on that which other purportedly "like comparables" choose to pay their staff.

We would certainly agree that times are hard for all, and it is certainly a struggle to make ends meet on a low income, which means that any small increase in our take home pay would have been welcomed as financially beneficial but more importantly we would have considered this to be an endorsement of the hard work, commitment and contribution that the hourly paid shop staff make in boosting the Minster funds.

Signed:-
