Disclaimer: I do not own the characters Nico di Angelo or Percy Jackson; Rick Riordan originally developed these characters.
The following is a short story I wrote today, based off of a writing activity in school. We had to write about anything with 3 words incorporated into it; my words were "Starbucks", "phantom", and "solitude". PLEASE only read this if you have read the Heroes of Olympus Series (up to book 4), as it contains a spoiler alert. Enjoy~
On the 1st of January, it had been noon as an elusive gentleman strolled down the avenue. This young man, Nico di Angelo, had reached his destination, Starbucks®. Nico took in a deep breath as he pressed his palm against the glass door, transferring his soul into the shadows. He had become a phantom version of himself as he wandered through the darkness, searching for his lair called 'home'. As he materialized inside his house, he sat upon a cushion beside his beloved instrument of black and white keys. This was his realm of solitude, away from the nuisances of the mortal world. Nico shuddered at the thought of his recent trip to Starbucks®. Percy had been on his afternoon shift, and Nico lost his courage as soon as Percy had waved at him. Nico was deep in thought and in tears, as he continued to press the piano keys for what seemed like an eternity. Finally, Nico thought he could now handle the sight of the son of Poseidon after what had been…one hundred years.
