The Tragic Priestess
Disclaimer: I don't own Kikyou, The Shikon no tama or any of that stuff. This is a one shot, and is told kinda like a ghost story.
Kikyou was a priestess charged with guarding the Shikon no tama, or the "Jewel of four souls", from falling into the wrong hands.
Demons from across Japan traveled to Kikyou's small village in an attempt to steal the jewel from her and gain incredible powers.
Kikyou didn't like fighting but she knew it was necessary.
One of those demons was Inuyasha, who repeatedly attempted to steal the jewel.
Neither he, nor Kikyou ever attempted to harm one another in the process, and eventually they began to grow close.
Kikyou believed that they were both similar because they had to mask their humanity.
She felt that she could not be a normal human because if she was, she would be slaughtered by demons.
Inuyasha refused to acknowledge his human side, and was trying to become a full-blooded demon with the aid of the Shikon no tama.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because of their similar situations they began to grow very close.
Kikyou realized that if Inuyasha would use the jewel to become human rather than a demon, the could both lead normal lifes.
The jewel would become pure and vanish, and thusly freeing Kikyou of her obligations as the Shikon's protector.
On the day they had chosen to be the day Inuyasha turned human, he appeared before Kikyou, brutally attacked her and took the Jewel.
Betrayed and confused, Kikyou used the last of her powers to put Inuyasha in a coma-like state for over fifty years.
After completing this, she died.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Some Fifty years later, Kikyou was revived by the Ogress Urasue.
Upon meeting Inuyasha again, he began to realize that their stories did not match up, and that he never attacked her.
It is later revealed that Naraku(The badguy who dresses in a monkey suit)disguised himself as Inuyasha in order to steal the jewel.
Unable to believe this, Kikyou still seeks to kill her former lover, Inuyasha.
But in her heart she still loves him.
I know it's very short, forgive me. But you try knowing what I know about Kikyou, Inuyasha and the others, okay? Anyway I wrote this interesting little thing because the idea came to me a few weeks ago and kept bugging me. So I hope you liked it!
