Shadow of Doubt

To Sammeh: Thanks for being such a good friend on the forum. And, yes, you do need a story just for you. :)
Disclaimer: Me, Cybra. Him, Tom Warburton. Him own Codename: Kids Next Door. Me sad.
Numbuh 86 snarled as her troops on Earth reported a complete lack of sightings of the fugitive operative Nigel Uno. "Keep looking! He has to be there somewhere!"
"Yes, ma'am," the terrified operative on the other end of the communications line whimpered. The connection ended.
She turned back to her paperwork, annoyance in her eyes and a scowl on her face. Stupid boys. They never got the job done. If she had not needed to finish these forms before beginning the decommissioning of Numbuhs 2, 3, 4, and 5, she would have gone back to hunt down the fugitive herself.
However, it would not take very long to finish the actual decommissioning. Then when that was completed, she would return to Earth and resume her part in the hunt. There really was no way Nigel could get off of the planet.
Even if he could have gotten off-planet, he would head straight into the waiting arms of the decommissioning team of Moon Base. The idiot would attempt a valiant—yet ultimately futile—rescue mission in order to free his teammates. Predictable.
But a shame, really. When Eighty-Six was feeling especially generous, she had to admit that he was a fairly competent operative. For a boy.
Still, his words at the lake troubled her: "You know how old I am! We went to kindergarten together!"
They had gone to kindergarten together. But the computer was never wrong. The boy must have been too stupid to advance with his peers.
But there was that nagging "what if" hanging in the back of her mind: What if the computer was wrong this time?
She shoved the thought from her mind. She was being ridiculous. The computer was reliable. It had never been wrong before, so why should it be now?
She signed off on the last bit of paperwork and rose from her desk.
It was time to end four teenagers' time in the Kids Next Door.
