Prologue
"We must create another Catalyst," said a harsh, demanding voice.
"Do you think that would be wise?" asked a wise and benevolent Digimon. "The True Enemy has been destroyed; a Catalyst isn't necessary for our survival."
"Still, another enemy might try to take over," the harsh voice said, revealing him to be a bird-like Digimon surrounded in an aura of fire. "An even stronger enemy."
He was immediately shouted down by his three companions, who said things like "There could never be an enemy more powerful than the true enemy!" and "You have got to be kidding!"
"Silence!" ordered the the benevolent voice, revealing himself to have a serpentine body and a dragon-like head. "We need to work on if it is wise to make another Catalyst, not if there is another force that could rival the True Enemy."
"Agreed," assented the angry bird. "So, will we be creating another Catalyst?"
"I say it is unnecessary to create a Catalyst, but I will not stop any of you from creating one," the blue dragon said, shifting his gaze to a white tiger.
"I say we create one, just in case we need one in the future," the tiger said. The dragon's gaze then went to a two-headed turtle with a forest growing on its back.
"We don't care if there's an extra Catalyst or not," responded one of the heads.
"Definitely don't care," the second one concurred.
"So the vote is one against, two for, and one indifferent," tallied the bird, clearly pleased.
The dragon sighed. "Yes, that is the final vote, and I will yield to your decisions."
So they began to make another Catalyst, relying on the Ancient Ones to help create one.
And they succeeded.
But they didn't know they did, for the Catalyst flew out of their grasp and went into a rock. All they saw was a crystal shattering. But it didn't shatter, it went through, and it landed on the chest of a canine Digimon, who went from Rookie to Ultimate and ended up with the sign of the Catalyst on his chest.
However, he wasn't the only one to notice the Catalyst was in him. A dark Digimon came up to him in the night and modified his memories, making him think that his ancestors had served him throughout the ages. The Dark one knew that with the power of the Catalyst on his side, he could easily finish through with his job. All he needed was some way to get to the Real World.
He got it.
He was there.
He was waiting.
"Woah! Oh-ho-hoh. That was a scary dream." cried Calumon. "Remind me not to eat chili cheeseburgers before going to sleep." he reminded himself, already dozing off and not thinking about his dream.
He didn't notice that his forehead was glowing, nor did he notice a similar glowing coming from behind a cracked door.
"He's so little. And to think that this innocent little being is the Catalyst," a canine mouth uttered softly. He then shut the door quietly and walked out of the Katou's residence, putting his leather coat on. He was still thinking about Calumon when he got to his vehicle that would take him back to his master.
