A/N: I don't own the 39 Clues. Since it's Easter, I figured I should post a story. I had just got Day of Doom yesterday.(I couldn't get it earlier because, well, I live in Sabah, Malaysia. It takes this long to get a newly-released book)When I read the part about Nat dying, I came up with this. Hope you like it!

Dan's POV

It had been three weeks since the end of the Vesper Incident. Three long weeks. Three really long weeks. Three really, really long weeks. Three really, really-REALLY-you get the picture. Basically, the only thing me, Ian, Amy and a bunch of the others were doing was grieving over the deaths. Amy was the first to bounce back after Vesper's defeat. She recovered on the day itself! Well, it was actually two weeks after the EndGame, but it was the day she "woke up". The rest of us, excluding Ham, Reagan, Sinead, Ned and Ted, were still down about it. Ian was depressed over Natalie. Man, she had a great life ahead of her. Truth be told, I kinda missed Nat too. Even though we argue all the time, we were actually great friends. I even took her out on a date once. We had a great time. It was the one time when I wasn't Ninja Lord Dan and she wasn't Princess Natalie. We were just being ourselves. Did you know Nat has this really cute laugh? Good times. I'm really going to miss Nat. Oh, wait. Amy's saying something.

"Alright, everyone, I know you're still down about about the deaths of your relatives, but we have to wrap this up. It's almost midnight. I'll arrange for the Cahill family funeral director to give them a proper burial."

No-one responded, but they all started shuffling to the door. Amy suggested I get some sleep. I did have school tomorrow. And I was too tired to argue.

So anyway, after I had gotten ready for bed, Amy knocked on my door.

"Dan, are you okay?" She asks.

"Amy. My best friend was captured, held hostage, tortured, and now she's dead! Do you think I'm okay?" I say.

"Dan, I know this has been hard on you, and I don't blame you for feeling bitter and angry. You're 13! You shouldn't have to face all this." By now, she was sitting next to me on my bed. "But I'm proud of you. You held out much longer than I did. You're much stronger than the typical 13-year-old. Most guys your age would be playing computer games or watching sports. You could have done that, but instead you almost sacrificed your life to get your family back." Then with a slight smile she said, "Nat was lucky to have you as her boyfriend."

The first thing I thought was, "I'm Nat's boyfriend?" The second thing I thought was, "No, I'm not! I'm just her best friend!"

Amy must have seen my face, because she said, "Dan, it's okay to like a Kabra. You'll fall in love two or three times in your whole life! Embrace it. It just means you're growing up."

She was at the door now. "Goodnight Dan."

"Goodnight Amy. See you later(It was past midnight at this time)."

That night, I would have the strangest dream of my life.
