Forgetting to Remember

This isn't a happy Sora drabble, so I suggest if you hate unhappy Sora drabbles, you should leave. :) That's all.

Being back on the island made everything seem like a blur. The worlds, the fighting, the nobodies- it was all so vague, whereas it was once so vivid. Sora berated himself day after day for forgetting, upset that two years of his life were suppressed into a tiny cube of knowledge, hidden at the far back of his mind.

Roxas told him that it was okay to forget, because deep down he really knew who he was: the keyblade master. Sora believed Roxas only said that because he'd already forgotten everything himself. Organization XII, the heartless, Ansem… Axel. Roxas's mind was linked to Sora's, and since Sora couldn't see through Destiny Island's stubborn fog, he knew Roxas certainly couldn't.

Days continued like this, until it became months, then years. Sora's eyes weren't so wide and curious anymore, and it wasn't because they held a deep knowledge; he'd given up long ago on remembering. A glassy opaque mist seemed to line the previously ocean-sky-forgetmenot blue, so that Sora's eyes no longer rivaled Riku's, or even Kairi's.

Roxas became possessive over the slightest touch, the tiniest contact Sora had with the world. He was sucking Sora in, sucking him into his own mind, because Roxas was all alone without his memories, and he was through being a nobody since the day Sora's light embraced him (which he could not remember).

Sora's visits to the beach became less frequent as Roxas's hold wrapped around his very being, and Riku and Kairi protested, not really seeing what was really going on. Sora found that even through the thick vines of his other's grip, his disappointment in them was still evident. He knew that Riku once had to deal with… with some kind of darkness absorbing something, and Kairi shared a body with that one girl- Nanima? Ninamé? - so they both should've had some kind of advice for him.

"They probably never cared anyway," Roxas would whisper into his- their ear, adding onto the pile of lies that they were buried underneath. Sora wouldn't argue with him, because arguing with himself was stupid, and he couldn't recall if he ever bothered to argue with Roxas either.

Sora was slowly, inevitably getting eaten alive, and no one was there anymore to save him, unlike the time when he was there, to save the world (worlds?) so many, many years ago.
