IT took three weeks for Izumi to see it.
Between her job at Mrs. Brookens shop and the copious amounts of school work and sweating it up at the gym on the weekends with her boys, it hadn't been clear to her at the time. Yet as the days began to lengthen and the weather turned warmer and sizzling hot with the bright sun always overhead, Izumi was surprised at what she had seen - and was continuously seeing.
The two of them weren't up in the face about it - but at the same time they unknowingly made it well known.
The sneaky peeks during gym and art classes, lingering glances for more than mere seconds, too close proximities - the occasional 'accidental' brush of their hands and fingers. Hell she had even caught them doing footsies under the cafeteria table last week when they finished an argument, and no one at the table said a word.
Izumi was so badly startled the first time she'd seen these happenings after coming out of her absent state and had gone to the others in their little family to confirm her suspicions.
Their amused gazes and wide smiles was all she needed to know it was true.
And the two at the center of all of this - weren't even aware of it.
''Why did no one tell me what was going on?!'' Izumi voiced angrily while storming up to the three boys, not caring for the glances or whispers she could hear starting up within the crowds. The students at Shinku high took any chance to butt their noses where it didn't belong. It's only been yesterday when she figured everything out and the fact they couldn't tell her what was going on much sooner was appalling. What happened to being honest with each other?
''We saw no reason to.'' Izumi turns to Kouichi at his calm words glaring at the male who was sipping from an apple juice carton - then slides her gaze across Junpei's and Tomoki's faces. Both brunet's were avoiding her eyes with fidgety stances. Good they better be scared, Izumi fumes, serves them right for keeping this from me.
''Saw no reason?'' She whispers to then raise her voice a smidge, ''Saw no REASON? Two of our family members are practically going out and you thought I didn't need to KNOW about it?!'' Izumi damn near shrieks and swirls around to face the onlookers that ogled her and her best friends and heard the murmurs they were trying to contain with poor attempts. ''What the hell are you all looking at?! Go on - shoo shoo - be on your way!''
The majority that were spectating scattered away the moment Izumi opened her mouth and huffing a bit while whipping to face her family once more she glares at them again, jaw setting, ''Now where were we?'' She mutters at the three, glancing to Kouichi in particular.
''I think we left off with you overreacting.'' Tomoki mumbles to himself before squeaking when Izumi lunges for his head with poised hands. He doges expertly and dives to hide behind an extremely serene Kouichi, Junpei quick to join his fellow warrior when Izumi's gleaming emerald eyes sought him out as their next victim.
''You wanna repeat that - ''
''Izumi,'' Kouichi cuts in loudly and smiles when she looks to him, ''Relax. We're sorry we didn't tell you, but with you being so busy we didn't want you to stress over it, as you are doing right now,'' Izumi holds his gaze and gives out a loud sigh, uncrossing her arms to let them limp at her sides while she nodded at his reason, ''And besides, I was for sure they were going to confess since this all started - but it's been three weeks and they haven't said anything.'' Kouichi finishes with a noisy slurp of his apple juice.
''Wait so the two of them AREN'T together?!'' Izumi says incredulously, Tomoki giving her a nod of confirmation as he shifts the strap on his shoulder, ''Are you - I can't believe - '' She groans gruffly with eccentric arm movements, ''Those dumbasses I swear! - '' Izumi slightly yells to the sky but stops the stamping of her feet.
"Actually now that I about it - I don't think they know about the other having a crush on them," Junpei inputs, ''I mean with the way they behave you'd think they were going out, yet if that was the case the two of them would've told us already.'' He says thoughtfully.
''So what you're saying is that our best friends are lovesick idiots who have been flirting for days now yet don't realize they really like each other.'' Tomoki casually clarifies like he's talking about a soccer game. Junpei hums his affirmation with Izumi and Kouichi sharing a look - the pair nodding at one another as they grab at Tomoki and Junpei and start walking away from the school.
''What the heck Izumi - hey stop you're pulling too hard!''
''Kouichi where are we going?''
''To go meet up with Takuya and Kouji. They're waiting for us at the park.'' Kouichi's response to Tomoki's question has him and Junpei giving a joint 'ooohhh' in understanding.
''Oh of course! Duh that was so obvious.''
Izumi rolls her eyes at them but smirks to herself evilly.
Her two special boys were in for a very rude awakening once she got her hands on them.

It's been two years since I've actually written a story, so my writing skills are somewhat rusty. I only wrote this one-shot to get back in the hang of writing but I had also wanted to write something Izumi-centric - with a dash of Takouji thrown in there as well.
