(Chapter 1)
Aleka/Alexis
Being a huntress is great. I get be immortal, I get to be forever 15, I get to…I guess I could go on and on. But there's one thing that's the hardest for me…Whenever we run into a "male," we have to be rough and ignore him and stuff, right?, but I just can't. It's not in my nature. I mean, I try, I really do, but it just doesn't work out for me. You see…
The leader of the group, Thalia, said we could hang around for a while and check if anything was up. I went into town, along with Caryn and Alyssa while the others waited for us to come back later and give our report.
I let them pair up 'cause I was more experienced. And because I wanted a little me time. We were meeting up at 6 P.M. in front of the little coffee shop. I waved to them as we set out in different directions.
I passed shops and cafes. The small town was peaceful. I looked around for monsters, so far, I saw none. I entered a small street shop and browsed, thinking that it would be safe and I really haven't done much shopping in a long time.
Picking up a small wolf charm, a Swiss army knife, and a pack of small hair pins, I went over to the counter to pay. The hair pins were useful for picking locks and - well let's just say that you can do a lot of things with a hair pin when you're someone like me. Anyway, I silently paid the boy working behind the counter. As I opened the door to leave, I felt a slam against my entire body, and fell backwards, stumbling into a something – a lot of somethings – as I fell.
I winced in pain. There was definitely something on me, heaving hard. At first, I considered it a monster of some sort, pinning me down, but as my vision cleared, I saw it was no monster, but a boy.
"Oww…" he muttered as he slowly got up from me and rubbed his head. "Sorry." He stuck out his hand to help me up, but I didn't take it. I got up quickly, ignoring the offered hand, and bent down to pick up the things we had scattered over the floor on the way down. A shelf had fallen, keychains and charms littered the room, some bottles of water had rolled onto the floor, and a few cans of paint had spilled. The shop was a mess. The boy finally realized what he had done and leaned down to help me.
Behind the counter, the other boy had stood, he had watched everything. He had started to move toward us with a mischievous grin.
"Hey, don't go ruining this place while I'm on my shift." He came closer. A little too close.
"Watch it." I shoved a bronze knife under his neck. "If you touch me, I can use this in 52 ways." He sighed as if it were nothing. As if this happened to him everyday.
"What's happening to girls in this world, huh?" he muttered.
"First it's knives, then it'll be swords, and soon it'll be bows and arrows again!"
Already happened. I thought.
