What is light? Light is not an object. Light is not a property. Light is a thing, infinite and incapable of being measured. Light is everything, yet it is made of nothing. Light, they say, is a type of energy.

If you asked Tori to define light, she'd say one word: Cat.

Cat was light. Cat was light in it's purest and most beautiful form, simple and nostalgic. The type of light that you found within your heart, happy and carefree. The best type of light.

Between indecision and staring at the back of her head when she wasn't looking, Tori had decided at some point that she really liked Cat. She really, really liked Cat. Maybe she even loved Cat. And this wasn't just a friendly kind of love. This was a crush. Well, who could blame her? Cat was light. Cat was the most adorable thing on the face of the earth. Just one look at her childlike expression and her vibrant red hair, and Tori had butterflies in her stomach and happy thoughts in her mind. There is something about Cat that can make even Jade want to smile; Tori has seen the smile playing on the edges of the goth's annoyed expressions when Cat says something adorably clueless in that perfect Cat-like way she had of saying things. Cat was light and joy and purity and innocence and everything Tori loved about the world. Cat was perfect.

There were these little moments where Tori would catch a glimpse of something from Cat that would give a hint towards the fact that Cat maybe, just maybe felt the same way she did. Like at their sleepovers, when Cat's face would linger inches from Tori's during one of the many hugs Cat tended to deliver at those sleepovers, and for a moment everything would just kind of stop, and hope would linger at the edge of Tori's lips as she looked into Cat's eyes, and then the moment would flicker away.

And then there was that day. That day that must have meant something. That day in which Cat and Tori were staying after school in the Blackbox Theater for whatever reason and that look that screamed "I want to kiss you" that Cat gave her.

Tori wait slow down Tori you're imagining things you're losing yourself Cat doesn't love you no wait are you sure maybe she secretly could but no she can't because you're just you and she's... light.
