"Alfred."
The word slipped through the chapped, bitten lips and shattered the cold silence. Alfred winced and recoiled sharply, the house had been silent for the last few hours and the soft word seemed more like an accusation to his guilty ears.
"Alfred, why?" The Brit whispered, struggling to understand why his precious colony was rebelling, why his most dear little brother was leaving.
"You know why. Your taxes, your laws. You know why, England."
Suddenly, it was Arthur's turn to recoil, the use of his nation name was a slap in the face. The air felt thick suddenly, weighing his body down and not quite filling his lungs. Hanging his head, he mumbled, desperately, "It's not my choice, I don't control my government, I can't change this, you know that."
"Exactly. Think about what you just said. I don't have a choice either, Artie. My people want independence, and I need to follow them. I'll miss you Artie. I really will," Alfred's final words rang in Arthur's head even after the blond had left, and they continued to as the man sat, frozen in place.
"I'll miss you too Alfred. My precious little Alfred." His voice trailed off, dissolving into sobs, as he slowly accepted that his little America was gone.
Very over done, but that's okay. Hope it was okay, please review and thank you for reading!
(Also, if you read New Neighbor, I'm really sorry for not updating in like a month, but I'm working on it, I'm having a hard time figuring out how to handle it without butchering everything...)
