Because I just really, really needed to write something. Also, I don't own DP.
Mr. Lancer sighed, peering at his student from over the small stack of papers that had gathered on his desk.
"Mr. Fenton, you do realize that this is the third time this month that you've failed to turn in an assignment," he said, gazing crossly at the raven haired boy. "Care to explain?"
The student in question shifted in place uneasily, before leaning in to whisper.
"Study bugs."
Lancer blinked.
"Study bugs..." the teacher echoed.
"Study bugs." Danny repeated, meeting Lancer's own unamused gaze.
"The little suckers bite my fingers each time I try to open the book," the boy explained. "I swear, it makes finishing this stuff impossible!"
Lancer pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed heavily. "Mr. Fenton, I've heard quite a lot of excuses from you over the past few months, and quite honestly, I'd expect at least a little more... effort..."
"I'm not making this up!" Danny cried, indignant. "I've got the bite marks to prove it! See?" He declared, shoving a thumb in his teacher's face.
"...that's a paper cut."
"What!? No! Mr. Lancer, I swear, I-"
"Mr. Fenton, that is quite enough!"
"But-!"
"No buts. I will be seeing you in detention."
The boy grumbled, storming off.
"Study bugs," the teacher scoffed. "What in the world will these kids think of next?"
Lancer gathered the papers and was about to leave when he noticed that Danny had left one of his books behind.
Muttering something about 'irresponsible children' beneath his breath, he picked the book up and was headed out when suddenly, he felt something nip at his fingers.
Lancer looked down, and nearly dropped the book in surprise.
There, peering out from the pages of Danny's textbook, was a small, glowing green creature. Sensing the teacher's studiousness, the creature squeaked excitedly and leapt out of the book... and onto him.
Lancer, of course, fell to the floor with a terrified shriek.
Outside, Danny had returned for his forgotten textbook, and was just about to enter the classroom when he heard Lancer shriek.
Danny simply shrugged. "I tried to tell him," he said innocently, before hurrying off after his friends.
