Introduction

"Its you and me, Hoss!" Elaine cried. Her Eevee, Hoss, flew off her shoulder and onto the battlefield. It was met with a sharp glare from Lance's Dragonite, and then nearly blown away by its powerful roar. The crowd went absolutely wild as Dragonite's roar shook their seats and rumbled throughout the stadium.

"I must commend you on pushing me to my last Pokémon," Lance complimented. "But your challenge with the Indigo League's Champion ends here!"

Elaine could feel her chest tighten as her anxiety grew. But she remembered a crucial detail that calmed her down pretty quick: Hoss hadn't spent any time in battle up until now. "Don't think we're down and out for the count just yet," she announced. "Let's get this started! Hoss, use Secret Power!"

Lance sighed at the obvious attempt to inflict his Dragonite with a status condition. "How naive. Dragonite, Dynamic Punch."

The evolutionary fox rushed in, enveloped in a strange aura. Dragonite waited for him to approach, fist already pulled back. Even Lance's Pokémon seemed unenthused by this plan of attack. As Hoss drew closer, Dragonite swung.

"Now, Protect!" cried the girl.

Just before the dragon's fist could connect, Hoss threw up a shield. The explosive impact of the attack shook the protective barrier, almost causing it to crack. A thick film of smoke enveloped Lance's side of the field, causing him to lose sight of his Dragonite. Before he could call out an order, Elaine had already commanded her Eevee to strike.

THUUUUM! Sounded the strike of Hoss's Secret Power against his opponent. Dragonite was pushed out of the smoke and emerged near its Trainer. Lance observed it, and drew back with an annoyed tsk as he watched his Dragonite struggle to move properly. Though there was no electricity commonly associated with the Paralysis status condition, he could plain as day see that his Pokémon's body had stiffened considerably. Damn, they blocked my attack as a diversion. They must have known I was going to use an attack that caused an explosion, thought Lance.

Lance was a veteran Pokémon Trainer and Dragon Master, and as such, learned how to keep his emotions under check. But Elaine noticed the air had grown thicker with tension, and could see that Lance seemed a little unhappy. Looks like he really wasn't expecting that plan. But now he's probably going to get even more serious. I need to be on my guard.

The battle resumed.

"Use Icy Wind," commanded the Dragon Master.

"Counter with Hyper Voice!" Elaine responded.

Both Pokémon drew in deep breaths and released powerful attacks from their mouths. Dragonite unleashed what felt like a Blizzard as the chilled winds froze nearly every inch of Elaine's side of the field. Hoss's Hyper Voice was no match, and was swallowed by the overwhelming blasts of wind.

Elaine felt her heart began to race as she saw her entire field become covered in ice. Having faced many different types of opponents throughout her career as a Pokémon Trainer, she had done battle with many opponents. This ice field tactic was nothing she hadn't seen before, but the added advantage her opponent had of being able to fly was new.

Just as soon as Elaine acknowledged the extreme disadvantage she faced, Dragonite took to the skies. "Icy Wind, once more!" its Trainer commanded. Winds whipped at the little fox from above and pushed it down to the ground. It was like gravity, no matter what Hoss did, he couldn't escape. His feet soon became frozen to the ground, and he was immobilized.

"Hoss! Get out of there!" cried Elaine. But try as the fox did, the ice was just too thick. She thought to herself in a moment of desperation, and suddenly yelled, "Use Heal Bell!"

Hoss let out a high-pitched cry as he summoned a bell in front of him that dinged. Its resonance released a healing aura that washed over both Eevee and Elaine's Poké Balls. The ice melted, but only from Eevee's feet. As she watched Hoss get back up, Elaine breathed a sigh of relief.

"I wouldn't get so relaxed," Lance warned her. "Use Zap Cannon!"

Dragonite fired a blast of electricity from its mouth.

"Hit it back with Iron Tail!"

Hoss turned and struck the blast with an ironclad tail. The attack flew back down the field, but there was no Dragonite in sight. It was then that Elaine noticed a shadow above her Eevee, and looked up to see their opponent.

"Above you!" she cried.

"Dragon Rush!" Lance yelled.

Elaine considered her options as Dragonite cloaked itself in draconic energy and began its descent. There was no time to dodge. Hoss was fast, but not fast enough to outspeed this, especially on a field of ice. As she continued to think, she realized her time was dwindling. If she didn't call out an attack soon, her Eevee wouldn't have enough time to counter.

"Protect!" she yelled, thinking it could buy her time.

Hoss threw up his shield again, and Dragonite came down like a missile. From behind his forcefield, he could see the intense expression of the dragon's face leering at him.

But this did buy her a few seconds. Enough time to come up with a plan.

"I've got a plan, Hoss! Double Team!" Elaine ordered.

Lance watched with audible annoyance as his Dragonite became surrounded by clones of the Evolution Pokémon. "I expected more from you than these tricks, Elaine! Eliminate them all with Draco Meteor!"

Dragonite turned its head up and fired a ball of energy high into the sky. It exploded, raining down a hellstorm of meteors that began to devastate the battlefield. The arena was quickly covered in smoke from the explosions caused by the falling meteors.

"Now, use Mimic!" Elaine called with a smirk.

Lance knew exactly what she was doing. "Stop it with Earthquake!"

Dragonite struck the ground with a punch. A massive shockwave was sent through the ground and shook the arena once again. The battlefield was decimated beyond recognition. There was no flat land left. Everything was jagged, and the field was littered with shards of rock and crevices that made it untraversable.

But none of that mattered to Elaine. She just needed the smoke to clear enough for her to see if her plan worked. The only thing she could currently make out was Dragonite's shadow, and that was just barely. But just a few feet away from the dragon, closer to her side, she could see the faint, green glimmer of her Eevee's Protect.

"That's it! Now, Draco Meteor directly in front of you!"

Hoss took down his shield and fired a draconic blast. Unable to react in time, Dragonite was engulfed by the attack and taken high into the sky. It detonated, showering the field with meteors once again. Dragonite fell to the ground. Meteors continued to rain down on it as Hoss continued a barrage of Draco Meteors until his Special Attack stat had dwindled too much.

Elaine waited patiently to see the outcome of her plan. The smoke had to clear once again, but once it did, she saw her opponent down on the ground. A referee rushed out onto the field, having to take caution of where he stepped. He made his way over to the Dragonite and examined it thoroughly for a few seconds before declaring, "Dragonite is unable to battle! Eevee is the victor. Lance is out of usable Pokémon, therefore, Elaine Taylor of Pallet Town is the winner!"

Elaine could barely hear the referee, despite the fact that he wore a microphone. Before he even began to announce the outcome, the crowd had already erupted into a roar of cheers and cries. It was all she could hear, aside from her heartbeat thumping in her eardrum from stress. The exhaustion from the long, hard battle began to hit her as she nearly fell back. But she had finally done it. After three tries, she had finally triumphed over Lance and became the Champion of the Indigo League. But this victory was so much more than just becoming the Champion. Now that she had defeated Lance, she had claimed victory over every single officially organized Pokémon League that the world had to offer. From Kanto to Galar, she defeated everyone and even cleared each Battle Frontier.

Just a few days later after the ceremony, she would receive a strange letter in the mail that read something like this:

"Greetings, Elaine Taylor of World-8473.

We are the Master's Organization, a group of Pokémon Trainers like yourself, each from different worlds that have ascended to the rank of Pokémon Master. We have gathered to form a Pokémon League of our own creation, comprised entirely of other Pokémon Masters. You have been under observation for quite some time, unbeknownst to you. There is a great potential within you to become a Pokémon Master.

Our Pokémon League possesses four Gym Leaders that you must beat to obtain four badges. You will have approximately six months to claim these badges and train your Pokémon before the official conference begins, where Trainers who have succeeded will gather and face off against one another in a tournament. Only the winner will be allowed to challenge the Elite Four and Champion, where if you triumph, you will be recognized as a Pokémon Master across all worlds.

A Pokémon Master, once thought to be a fabled title, is a rank held by the most powerful Pokémon Trainers in all of existence. Pokémon Masters are distinguished from regular Trainers by a badge they wear. What shape this badge takes will depend upon the person and the world they come from. This Master's Badge will grant you access to any restricted area within your world that is reserved for Champions, like Mt. Silver. You will have access even if you are not the Champion of that region. Furthermore, the Master's Badge will also function as a portal that can transport you to your own space in the Ultra Wilds, where you will be permitted to do whatever you wish with it, whether that be create a Pokémon Gym to invite Trainers of different realities to, or have a place entirely for yourself.

As a Pokémon Master, you will be given the permission to participate in any level of tournament, even if you have previously not attended said function. This includes contests as well. You will also be allowed to challenge any Elite Four or Pokémon League in your world without having to earn any of those badges, and you will also be allowed to open up your own Pokémon Gym in whatever region you choose, so long as that region has space.

There are many more perks and functions that come with the title of Pokémon Master that will be explained when/if you prevail over our league, as some powers are privileged information.

Should you choose to accept this invitation, you agree to follow these rules:

You are at no point allowed to do any bodily harm to any Human or Pokémon

You may use not use any more than two of the same Hold Item on a Pokémon Team

Healing items such as Potions, Full Heals, Antidotes, and Elixirs will not be allowed during any official battle (Gym battles, League battles, etc.). However, the battle is unofficial (a battle not being scored by a referee), and both parties consent, healing items are allowed. Furthermore, if at any point your Pokémon is injured on the road or by any other circumstance that isn't an official battle, you are more than welcome to use any sort of healing items that you'd like. The only healing item you are allowed to use in battle are hold items that restore Health, like the Leftovers, or berries.

You may not use more than two of the same species of Pokémon, unless they are form variants (the use of say, an Alolan Raichu and a Kantonian Raichu, would be permitted)

Only Pokémon registered in the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, and Galar Pokédexes are allowed. Ultra Beasts are welcome.

While you are only allowed to have six Pokémon on your person, you will be allowed access to your PC at any given time that will allow you to switch out your Pokémon

Any form of cheating will not be tolerated and will result in your ejection from the League, and is subject to even further penalties to take place at the punisher's discretion

Due to the extremely dangerous climate that is our world, as well as powerful wild Pokémon, you will be required to always have one of your Pokémon outside of their Poké Ball with you while traveling on the road

You are allowed to keep any Pokémon you capture within our region

You will have four days from opening this letter to consider our proposal. If you agree, then you must mail this letter back out with a written statement of agreement. If you choose to decline, then this letter must be destroyed."

Elaine looked up from the letter and took a deep breath, feeling the pressure from her impending choice. Should she go? Could her team of Normal Type Pokémon really stand a chance against the strongest Trainers of other universes?

She looked down at Hoss, who looked back up at her. "Let's give it a shot!"

AN: Thank you for taking a look at the prologue! I know it was rather short, but I hope it gives everyone a good enough taste of my writing style so they can judge for themselves whether or not they want to be a part of the story. More details about submitting your own character and the OC sheet can be found on my profile! This will be somewhat of a short story that I'll be doing in my free time, so come along for the ride!
