Timeline: Before Ginny goes to Hogwarts
Characters/Pairings: Ginny-centric

The sun had barely broken over the horizon when a small girl stirred in her bed. A wild mane of red hair poked out from underneath her blanket and she yawned widely and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. Ginny Weasley, ten years old, had a plan. There was a very good reason she had woken so early, especially on a Saturday. She knew that her parents would still be sleeping, and it was the perfect time for her to execute her master plan.

She slipped from her bed and shuffled around her room in the dark pulling on her clothes as she went. Once she was dressed she slowly opened her bedroom door and winced at the low creak that seemed to echo around the house. She held her breath and only released it when she didn't hear anyone stirring from their slumber.

She skipped down the stairs and expertly skipped the squeaky step that she knew would wake her mother at the least. She stopped by the Kitchen and grabbed an apple before continuing her journey. She reached the front door and opened it only wide enough to slide her small body through the threshold.

Dew covered the grass and it was eerily quiet outside. Only the soft chirping of nearby crickets could be heard. Ginny ran over to the shed and, with some effort, opened the door and looked in awe at the five brooms, perfectly lined up, before her.

She debated which one to grab and quickly decided to take Charlie broom. He was the least likely to be upset that she had stolen their broom, since he didn't use it very often anymore.

'Besides, he left it behind when he left. Clearly he doesn't want it anymore' she reasoned with herself.

The broom hummed with magic and Ginny herself shook with excitement. The thrill of riding the broom and doing something sneaky left her with a warm feeling in her veins. She quickly mounted the broom and slowly rose into the sky.

Ginny loved the feeling of being in the air, even if she was just hovering over the ground.

Her wide smile quickly fell into a deep frown as she lost control of the broom and jerked forward. The broom raced towards the house and Ginny let out a shriek.

"Daddy!" she bellowed and prayed her father heard her scream. The broom jolted to the right and Ginny was thrown, viciously, off the broom and she plummeted towards the ground. She hit the ground hard and heard a sickening snap.

Her stomach dropped, and pain flooded her system, radiating from her leg. She let out a loud shout, in agony, and tears pooled in her eyes and stained her cheeks. She lay on the ground sobbing until she realized that she was still too far away to have heard her scream. Tried to stand but her leg was mangled. She shuffled along the ground and continued to scream for help. Luckily, she managed to shift herself close enough to the house that her screams woke her parents.

"Daddy! Mummy!" she bellowed.

"Ginny!" he heard her father yell out from the house, but she couldn't stop sobbing long enough to call out. Lucky for her Arthur heard his daughters pained cries and found her quickly.

Ginny earned herself a trip to St. Mungo's for her broken leg and a grounding so severe she wasn't out of her mother's sigh until she left for Hogwarts.
