Prologue: "By the Brick"

Rain pounded on their backs harshly.

Yet none of them cared.

The only thing they could manage to notice was the cool marble slab in front of them.

A raven cawed in the distance, the boy to the girl's right clenched his hands tightly. Paper rustled, the clenched ball of tree skin was damp in his hold as he tried to picture what went wrong. How did everything go downhill so fast? This time last year things were looking up, in fact he actually had hope of a new future. At least, back then he did.

"She's really gone?"

She flinched, the girl looked up at the sky, crying as rain droplets fell into her wide eyes. The calm she felt when it rained helped her cope, she knew a storm still meant trouble, but no matter how much she tried, she couldn't help but be reminded of the woman she looked to for support.

"They both are." She said softly, the slightest trace of malice evident, though only obvious to the people she stood closest to.

The boy with the clenched ball winced, angry that it really was the truth. Or maybe he was just too stubborn to admit that -after all that had happened- he did nothing but let the pieces unfold. Events that shouldn't of happened did, and what did he do? Cower in the corner, like the twelve year old he was, as others took the blame. His gaze flitted to the only female present, and he forced back a growl as he watched her detached orbs look to the sky.

Eventually they did leave, away from the marble slab and back to their home.

Home.

Could they even call it that anymore? Without the biggest parts of their family, how would they cope?

Simple, they had to keep moving.

Was it that easy? Of course not, nothing ever was, especially when one leaves something treasured behind.

Four figures sat around a table, all feeling cold but not a single tremor went through them. Something had to be done, they could fix this. Where to start though? She had no idea as she stared at her brothers.

"We should go back to Japan." The eldest said as he looked to his younger siblings. One angry boy, another shellshocked, and the girl in the middle looking numbed. She gazed up at him and nodded in silent agreement while the one to her left crunched the paper tighter in his hand.

"If we do, you'll have to quit your job though. And school, what about school?" The shellshocked boy snapped out of it long enough to ask. The girl turned and held her youngest sibling close.

"We'll be okay Hana, I promise. Shinji knows what he's doing." She said with a confidence the she didn't believe in.

"We're gunna be okay." Shinji said.

Though he couldn't tell if it were a lie or not.

Ending Theme: "Brick By Boring Brick" (Paramore)

So I recently started watching this anime again and thought, 'Why not?'. Some people might recognize a few elements from my previous story 'Double Trouble', but I think the main female character will be quite a bit different than before, and honestly I like her better. I'm a bit different as a writer now, so we'll see if this is any better.

I had to take DT down and repost this because for whatever reason FF. Net won't let me choose a section for the story and just reboots. Sorry about that, but yeah, here's a new story!

I'm curious; did anyone ever read Double Trouble?

Bai bai!
