Lily's eyes darted around the table. All around her people were talking and she clutched the end of the table nervously. She hadn't been counting on this. She had expected to be in Sev's house. Now she was all alone, without him. Although, she could not deny the fact that she was excited to have new friends. The way Sev worded it though, it sounded as if he had been planning for their years in Hogwarts to be just them two. Now that she thought about it, Sev's presence seemed to be a little smothering at times, even though they were the best of friends. Peering around her, she tried to locate all the other first years at the table. She found the two that had insulted Sev quite easily due to the fact that they were very loud and seemed to be asking for attention. Right next to them was a rather pudgy boy, with small eyes that kept darting everywhere. He seemed to be hanging on to the boys every word. Sighing, she turned next to her, looking for other first years to be friends with. There were 3 girls down towards the end of the table, and right next to her there was a boy with a sort of undernourished look to him. His eyes were darting everywhere, except he seemed to be examining the different people with a hungry sort of interest, as if he had never been near a human being before He paid no attention to the brilliance of the castle itself. Picking up on this peculiarity, Lily wondered if he, like her had never seen wizards and witches before. "He must be a muggleborn" she thought. Wanting to confirm this theory, she asked him rather bravely "Are you a muggleborn as well? I noticed you looking at all these people. I have never seen this many witches and Wizards in my life!" He seemed surprised to be speaking to her and he thought very carefully before speaking. "No, my father is a wizard. I just don't usually see this many people, we live in a very-secluded area" His eyes snapped upward to her face very suddenly "Not that we have anything to hide, my family! We just like our space." He hastily changed the subject and introduced himself. "My name is Remus by the way, Remus Lupin" He jerked his arm upward as if he wished to extend his hand, but seemed unsure if this was the appropriate thing to do. Lily, catching this movement, extended her arm and shook his wavering hand. "My name is Lily. Lily Evans. I'm a mugglebo-well I already told you that" she said, interrupting herself. "This is also so wonderful, I can't wait to study everything!" Remus nodded "Yes it must seem like a lot at once, learning there is a whole other world out there. I was very excited when I learned I would be able to go here" He said very kindly. Lily was rather confused "When you learned you would be able to go here? Didn't you always know that you would go here? You have a wizard father." Remus opened and closed his mouth, his eyes wide "Well-yes, I mean-I mean when I first found out about school, I-I" he was stammering and stared frantically at the bread as if it would give him an answer. Before he could speak, the headmaster clapped his hands and the food on the table vanished. The students instantly quieted down and Remus could speak no more, as the headmaster launched into a speech.
