Human

Recommended Listening: Human By Christina Perri

I own nothing.

He could do anything. He could, bite his tongue, hold his breath, and stay awake for days if that was asked for him. Be her Number 1. He could force a laugh; he could fake a smile. He could dance and the part when she asked him too. And he did. He gave her all he was.

But he was only human. He bleeds when cut. He crashes, he burns, he breaks. They put words in his head, words that made him more than he was. But every night he'd go to sleep, and there was that nagging doubt, it made him fall apart. Then the others put knives in his heart, not intentionally, of course. It was just way they looked at him, with undo awe and respect. He was still the person he was back then; still their friend. But they didn't see it that way. It broke his heart.

He could turn on a smile. He could be the machine she wanted him to be. He had the power to do anything. He could move mountains; hold the world on he shoulders. Again, he could be her everything. He can do it. He'll get through it.

But he was only human. Hearing people talk about him, they built him up to be something he wasn't. Then he'd fall apart again, the stress, the pressure, it was all too much. He could only go so far. He wasn't cut out for this lifestyle. It broke his heart more and more to see the suffering around him. If hadn't come, they never would've started this war. It was his entire fault.

He could only do so much; go so far. He could take so much then, like every other human, he would break. And he was so close to breaking. So, so close. It brought him to tears sometimes.

He was only human, just one little human. Didn't they get that? Didn't they see it? He prayed they did. He knew what he was doing was necessary, people needed to see a strong, confident, Rider. But that didn't mean it wasn't hard.

Every time they cheered for him, begged for his help, looked at him they way the villagers did, a piece of his heart would break.

More than anything, he just wanted it all to end.
