Into Darkness

Dragons behind me
And demons ahead
When my choices have blind' me
And there's no way back
When desire says: 'forward!'
And fear says: 'retreat!'
When my concience has been caught
By soul's deeper need -
I'll give in, but feel the grief.
'Gee,' says the thief
'Don't you beg for relief!'

Shadows before me
And night in my back
When ambition has brought me
Right onto this track
Though my mind keeps on telling
I still might return
I prefer the heart yelling
Forget my concerns -
And thus their time is brief.
'Gee,' says the thief
'You don't need no relief!'

Blackness infront me
And darkness behind
If my concience still wants me
To make up my mind
Then its voice must have faded
If it ever was there
'fore my longing invaded
the soul, and I care
What I've lost, can it be retrieved?
'Gee,' says the thief
'Don't pretend to believe!'
