A/N: Written for the Becoming a Wizard Challenge Year 1, Being Left on the Doorstop event.

Before Being Born Together

He could never recall
a time they'd been apart.

Their shadows
had long since laced fingers
in their mother's womb

And their faces
like melted max, a mirror
on the blazing falls
of their lives

And that gaping drought left behind
was nothing he'd felt before:

They'd shared their first breath together
and now that far off time
before their birth – when they'd been truly one
and thus apart – was long gone,

A distant roar, in
his now lonely fluid-filled years.
