A/N I own nothing except extra comfy pj's and an imagination...

"Finally", Mac shut the file on his desk with a satisfied sigh. As far as some of his cases had gone this was pretty cut and dry, though it always stumped him what family were capable of doing to each other... Mac quickly shut down that train of thought before it returned to what would haunt him for his entire life, Claire. He rolled back from his desk and grabbed his coat heading to the elevator just as the doors slid open with the usual 'ding', and standing there was a face he never wanted to see again. Not that there was anything unappealing about her, she was still, even after all these years beautiful but as the last time he saw her she stood aggressively legs at shoulder stance and arms crossed. "Hello Mac, it's been a while" Her voice a seductive purr.

"Cassie, what brings you here?" Mac knew his tone was unfriendly, but he really didn't keep patience for people who betrayed him. "Now, now. No need to be like that darling" her voice dripping with distain and sarcasmas she stepped out of the elevator and slipped her arm around Macs waist pulling him close, he shook her off quickly "Oh dear Mac, not in a friendly mood are we? Okay then as you detectives like to say I'll cut to the chase" she stepped back and brought her left hand up to her face "As you can see by this rather expensive ring, I'm getting married and my finance and I wish to start a family of our own and when you left me as I'm sure you can remember I was rather angry." "Yes." Mac cut in "I do remember the rather large bruise a kettle leaves when thrown" Cassie smirked "My bad." "I don't see what this has got to do with me Cassie." The usually stoic man was clearly losing patience as Mac tapped his foot against the floor the noise echoing down the dark quiet lab. "Well, I found out a few weeks after you left me that I was pregnant and well me starting a new family with my partner means I can't keep old family lying around so..." Cassie brought out a document from her purse and slapped it again Macs chest. "This is me revoking all guardian rights over our daughter and passing them to you" Macs wide eyed stare quickly focused back on Cassie "wait, what do you mean? She'll be 16 by now, and you're just going to drop her on a stranger" Macs voice started to raise in uncommon anger and frustration which grew into a nearly apoplectic rage when Cassie rolled her eyes "I only raised her because I kept the knowledge that I was denying you a daughter, now the situation has changed and frankly I just don't care and well, it would be a real money saver for her to be gone before college (A/N Not American, so college for me is 16-18 years ish normally)... well that's everything" Cassie stepped back into the elevator and quickly pressed ground floor and as Mac attempted to stop the doors sliding closed she added "You can pick her up from the airport tomorrow at one o'clock, ciao!" The doors closed with a resounding thud and Mac slammed his fist against the metal releasing some frustration... "Well" He murmured in the silence "what now?"
