Fate's Dance
(Dōmeki x Watanuki)
Fate was balanced on a thin rope. On that rope you only had two options, really: stay on it, or jump off.
Fate's rope held the balance between love and hate. It was a thin line, of course, but a line nonetheless. Dōmeki and Watanuki liked to dance this line often; they would waltz and fox-trot their way across the line but the dances were slowing and they were growing tired of the never-stopping dance.
Dōmeki refused to agree that what they held was hate and Watanuki refused to believe that their relationship could be called love.
Fate had chosen only one option but by choosing the opposite a new fate would be chosen and the rope would continue going on without fraying.
That is how hitsuzen worked.
Neither understood that soon, the rope they were walking on would change and they'd begin to walk on a new line.
For now, they continued to ballroom dance their way across fate and hope she didn't decide to move the music to a faster, more loving tune.
