He heard the bushes rustle, something that never happened on his island. On his island there was no gentle breeze, no sweet singing from a Taillow, no happiness.

He instinctively powered up a ball of dark energy between his claws, before he hurled it at whatever was hiding in the foliage, without thinking. Anything that was on his island should have alerted him straight away. The last time something like this had happened, it had been a trainer, attempting to capture him. He smirked at the memory. That human wouldn't be bothering anyone every again. He unconsciously cast a glance over to a patch of dirt, among the short, dying grass, which had been overturned.

He looked back to the bushes, waiting for the creature to emerge; however, he was caught off guard by an icy multicoloured beam, which hit him squarely in the chest. As he was knocked back a few feet by the blast, a few tiny shards of ice dropped to the ground, slowly melting.

Allowing his natural instincts to take over, he charged another ball of darkness, before throwing it into the foliage. He didn't notice a large log behind him begin to glow with purple energy. He took small, careful steps towards what he believed was his defeated foe. However the log slowly rose into the air, before flying towards him, hitting him in the back, knocking him flat on his face as he let out a small growl.

He looked up to see his foe emerging from the bushes. And he let out a small gasp. Even as he saw the blue swan-like creature, his boy began to move of its own accord, as his hands came up to his chest, and a small circular orb formed from multiple dark purple rings, before his hands flew forward. The rings flew from his palms until they hit his counterpart. Even as she collapsed, she looked up, so that his eyes me hers, tears flowing down her face.

"Please. Stop this Darkrai!" She called, but his mind could not control his body.

His right claw began to glow with black ethereal light, forming a larger claw. As he stalked toward his target, his claw moved towards her neck. A small tear rolled down from his deep, bright blue eyes, as his claw slashed across her skin.

His body collapsed, as he regained control of his movements. The other creature also collapsed red fluid seeping from the three cuts across her throat. He looked down at his claw, and saw the blood on his hand, before rushing over to the colourful swan.

"No! Cresselia, come on! You can make it through this!" Darkrai screamed, as he held her body close, looking into her eyes.

"Darkrai. I lo..." Was all she said before her eyes closed, and her body went limp. Droplets of water began to splash against her skin, as Darkrai tightened his grip on her.

He jerked upwards as he was breathing rapidly, his fur covered with cold sweat. He looked around, as his eyes began to adjust to the darkness, and he brushed back his long white hair with his claw. He let out a deep breath, as he realised it had all been a nightmare.

He looked up at the stars, and the crescent moon, unaware that a certain swan was also looking up at the moon.
