Temari tore open the envelope and clasped the letter tightly to her chest. She held it in front of her and looked at the name scribbled in shikamaru's handwriting. She looked at the date in the upper right hand corner and her heart sank…July 4th…its been ages since temari last seen shikamaru she missed him like crazy… he left on a undercover mission to catch the akatsuki's over 5 months ago and hasn't seen him since…temari sat on the sofa in her modest two-bedroom apartment and read the letter from the man who still and always will hold the key to her heart. Shikamaru's letters were like the sun shinning on a cloudy day to temari.

Temari smiled. Shikamaru's letters always made her heart break just a little and at the same time make her feel like she was the luckiest woman alive…it was difficult for temari to explain this range of emotions to Sakura, Hinata and Tenten because unlike her they have never been in love.
