Get Houston...A new chapter
(This was just a wee writing muse, whilst still writing 'Many Happy Returns...' very short and sweet so to speak!)
Matt took C.J in his embrace and hugged her, both of them hanging on tight to one another, never wanting to re-live the last forty eight hours ever again. Matt thankful that no real harm came to C.J. Nevertheless he closed his eyes at the mere thought of how this could have played out; knowing what Castano's was capable of, and how he had threatened to harm her 'in search of the man's soul' and on more than one occasion during the last few hours. Matt held onto her tighter. C.J in turn closed her eyes and realised just how grateful she was to have made it out of the whole situation alive, she couldn't deny that on this was one occasion Matt's protective streak had been more than welcome.
"I can't deny it Matt, I was so scared, really scared"
"I know ...honey...I know. So was I ...for you...I cannot recall the last time I was so scared for you" Matt whispered and he stoked her hair. "My best friend and one of my closest friends have been put in the most extreme of danger due a vendetta against me. I can't happen again...I just won't let it happen again"
"Wanna get away from things for a while" C.J asked "I think I do"
"Yeah...you know that sounds good;...how about heading out to the ranch for a day or two, maybe we could go riding?" knowing this one was of her favourite ways to escape from all that life threw in her direction.
C.J nodded quietly
"Listen, you get yourself ready and I'll just check on Bo" Matt said softly, smiling down at her.
Matt headed over to the bar and smiled at the small party that seemed to be taking place, receptionists laughing at Bo as he regaled stories of his time in hospital.
"Right Bo, can I take it you're gonna be ok under Mama's supervision, gonna take C.J out to the ranch for a couple of days..."
"Of course I will be looking after him...get back down in that chair Master Bo" Mama interjected
"Sure Matt you go right ahead and unwind and look after C.J" Bo added smiling
Mama took Matt aside and asked him
"Is she Ok Matt...really Ok, I was so scared for her safety when Vince told me that..."
"She'll be just fine Mama really; nothing a bit of fresh air and a bit of horseback riding won't cure. Not sure who needs it most to be honest though, I was really scared for her as well and I keep thinking what if..."
"Hush...you mustn't think like that...you need to be strong for her" Mama said patting Matt's cheek
"We'll be two days at the most" Matt said putting his arms around Mama "Thank you Mama...for everything" Matt said as he kissed her head.
"Go on ...off you go the both of you. I'll see you in two days time at my place for pizza and pasta with Master Bo here"
"You're on Mama, and I know you won't get any arguments from C.J either" Matt said laughing as he headed to the elevator where C.J stood smiling.
"Let's go..." Matt smiled as he took C.J's arm, "let's go ride us some horses, swim in the lake and hike in those mountains and all of it in two days" he continued and he winked and wiggled his eyebrows.
With that they disappeared into the elevator
