Harry stood on what was left Hogwarts school grounds. There was a deafening silence that surrounded him as he took in what had happen. He had done it, he had killed Voldemort. He didn't feel the relief that he had thought he would have though. Harry stood and looked at the price they had paid just to bring down this one man. All the lives that had been taken over the years, all the ones that had been taken just today, Harry had to wonder if it had all been worth it. He couldn't see how it had as he looked at the dead bodies around him.

There was Colin for once without his camera. It saddened Harry to know that Colin would never take another picture or get all excited because Harry said something to him. Beside Colin was Ginny. Harry notices how their hands were connected and felt a moment of happiness that they wouldn't have to live without the other.

The sad feeling quickly came back at the site of Draco on the ground near his father. Draco had become a great friend and ally after he had switched sides and Harry remembered glimpses of Draco standing up to his father during the final battle and he had been a force to be reckoned with. Harry realized that tears had started to fall down his face as he thought of all the others that had died. Remus and Tonks had gone quickly in the battle, Harry wasn't sure how. All the Marauders were dead now and once again back together.

Then poor Teddy both parents taken away by the war before he was even two weeks old. Another child that would have to grow up an orphan because of this war. Another child that had to grow up like Harry, but hopefully someone would teach them love. Harry dropped to his knees not even feeling the cold blood stained mud soaking through his pants. The tears poured from his eyes now as he dropped his wand to the ground. He closed his eyes for a brief moment. Preparing himself to face the two bodies that he had been avoiding this whole time.

On the ground to his right lay Ron and to his left lay Hermione. His best friends were gone just like everyone else. Harry closed his eyes not being able to look at them any longer. A slight smile formed on his face as he remembered all the adventures that they had gone on, and all the stupid fights that they had had. Harry opened his eyes taking one more look at all the people around him before sighing. Harry slowly took his place between his two friends lying down in the mud. Harry closed his eyes, a slight smile on his face for he would never open them again. The hero had done his job and now he was going home.
